One of the many sad stories in the war that
just ended. This and the many real stories
of abduction and white vans and so on.

Hope the chapter is closed and better leadership
gains currency in future.

I am afraid not. Sri Lanka lost any sense of the sanctity of life a long time back.

When the Tamils were killed we kept quiet. After all they were all "terrorists".

When the Sinhala Youth were annihilated during the JVP terror we kept quiet since
they were all terrorists according to the government.

When the white Vans came for the people in Colombo and other parts we meekly
kept quiet in the name of National security and fighting terrorism.

Our politicians dress up in squeaky white and worship the monks all the while plotting
and scheming where to rob, pillage, extort and murder next.

A Lasantha here a Tissanayagam there are mere incidentals in their day to day life.

And every five/six years we vote these same bunch of profound genius to power expecting the better
but knowing very well that nothing will change.
