    UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Citing a lack of time, the United Nations has denied a request by the Sri Lankan government to monitor the upcoming presidential elections, said a UN spokesperson here on Wednesday.

Post What about our old friend Norway? 
I think the SL Government should invite Norway for this.  They have great experience in Sri Lanka especially, to take down numbers .They will definitely produce the number of election violations from both sides Exclamation

My feeling is in the event Electoral process went wrong and ends up in violence UN will step in.  Monitoring elections is a 'Bird in the bush'  but now UN system has Sri Lanka for alleged killing of surrendering LTTE terrorists (Bird in the Hand).  'Athe inna kurulla hondai Pandure inna kurulata wada'
