The Government today objects to ‘balanced criticism’ by governments, the UN and human rights agencies, because all of them demand restraint from it towards the besieged civilians. What the Government apparently seeks is a blank cheque to go on indulging in cost-free killing of Tamils in the name of warring against terrorism. Nothing can cover the absurdity of the Government’s position. The LTTE, confined and reduced by steady attrition poses no threat to the Government. It is merely postponing the inevitable, placing more and more conscripts and children before missiles of the Government, whom it is happy to blow to smithereens. This has been true for several months and a government with a minimal sense of responsibility should have looked to other political means.

I stand behind 100% for this government operation and the way they conduct it against LTTE.
Are you for or against it?

There is no gain without pain.  I welcome communication of atrocities without a political agenda.

If 100,000 to die when we destroy LTTE, it is still justifiable since that will bring peace and happiness for the rest of 99% alive and not affected.

When analyzing events like this, use severity and occurrence.
The severity is of cause high, the occurrence is low compared with 20 Million population in Sri Lanka.

Tell me how to destroy LTTE without civilian causalities?  The whiners are not doers.  Doers don't whine.

Answer is very simple kkk123.  Would you rather have a low intensity war that drags to infinity number dead standing at 70,000 and counting or have a full scale war that will end the madness even with lot of suffering in couple of years.  If this happened in the south, still my position would be this.  

Take a stand kkk.  Whining won't help.

I wonder how UTHR is only talking on behalf of this "vanni" civilians when hundreds of thousands of other "civilians" will be killed in the months to come if LTTE is not destroyed. LTTE has proved this scenario as a fact and the current war is to save "civilians" in general. UTHR's silly argument of LTTE is no excuse for killing "vanni" civilians is biased and a shame to so called "university teachers" who are supposed to be neutral and professional in their views.

LTTE is definitely a good excuse for the current war for the sake of "civilians", I mean "all civilians" (not just wanni civilians), and rather than crying about problems they as "university teachers" should be able to advocate how to destroy LTTE without having a single civilian death. Many would be interested to hear from UTHR of such advise and will be also very useful to US, UK etc in Iraq and Afganisthan.

Come on Dammika, you know very well that I am a strong supporter of SL security forces and the anti-LTTE campaign.
