March 24 (Bloomberg) -- Sri Lanka said 50,000 civilians have fled to government-controlled areas since January as the army tries to defeat the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in its last strongholds in the north.

50,000 is a huge number to deal with and provide even basic (SPHERE standards) humanitarian needs. GOSL has to be careful VP is not among them dressed as a woman
