COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: A suspected rebel suicide bomber attacked a gathering of Muslims celebrating a religious holiday outside a mosque in southern Sri Lanka on Tuesday, killing 10 people and wounding at least 20 others, including a government minister, the military said.

Why this happened
 Is that Muslims and their religious festivals are inadequately protected by defense forces of SLanka? Or LTTE wants to make a point by carrying their terror attack deep in the South? |

Two possibilities: They never expected LTTE will target a Muslim festival at this time in the South and didn't bother to provide adequate security. Day before this attack, President said all the Muslims who were asked to leave Northern areas by the LTTE would be able to go back to their homes soon. LTTE must have done this to discourage those displaced Muslims from settling in. |

Maybe additional goal was to take out those ministers. Luckily, the one seriously injured minister survived. |
