The Tamil Tigers say the military is shelling and bombing civilian areas and that people are staying in LTTE-held territory of their own free will because they don’t want to be placed in government-run internment camps.

Yes, this explains why LTTE shooting any civilian dare to move from LTTE clutches Idea

Amare,
There is an interesting story about so called civilian casualties. LTTE is trying every trick in the book to survive.

" LTTE has started another scam to discredit the Army and to give their fighters a fighting chance. The scam is to pose-off injured fighters as civilians who are handed over to the ICRC inside the civilian safety zone. From there these 'civilians' are registered by the ICRC and handed-over to the the Sri Lanka Navy. The Navy will then transport them to Trincomalee Hospital.
Military Intelligence and Naval Intelligence have so far identified 30-40 such fighters from among the 'civilians'. They cannot be arrested or detained nor can they be rehabilitated like surrendees. If they are resettled once recovered from the wounds, there is a possibility that they might operate as insurgents from among the civilians."

insurgOh my God!   Thanx for the info.  Sure they are doing this.  That is LTTE.  However these wounded terrorists do not come with cyanide capsules and suicide jackets it fine for the time being.  I guess they are well registered using finger prints, photos and other details.  Hope authorities will monitor them since this fact is known

Good thinking Amare, though I hope such posers are not too dangerous when things become opportune.
Anuradhapura is still fresh in memory as to what the l.t.t.e is capable of.

While talking about A'pura there are two major incidents:

1. Killing devotees right beside Sri Maha Bodhi tree in 80s

2. Recent well coordinated attack using their matchbox planes targeting A'pura Air Base.

I think first one is quite easy even now (to kill unarmed innocent civilians) if these trained terrorists infiltrated into civilian areas.  But, for the second one, need infrastructure and coordination.  LTTE is losing all (or lost all) their former venom/capabilities.
