COLOMBO, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The military in Sri Lanka said on Wednesday that fierce confrontations between government troops and Tamil Tiger rebels occurred Tuesday in Puthukudiyiruppu, the last stronghold held by the rebels in the northern Mullaittivu district.
