(Bloomberg) -- Sri Lanka’s army drove Tamil Tiger rebels from defense lines in the northeast as the group said it will overcome the challenge of losing control of its political headquarters last week.

Soldiers drove south to extend defense lines at Muhamalai on the main A-9 road link to the Jaffna Peninsula, the Defense Ministry said on its Web site. Troops also cut the LTTE’s supply line to Elephant Pass, the strategic causeway to the peninsula.

The fall of the Kilinochchi headquarters on Jan. 2 is a setback, N. Nadesan, the political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, said yesterday in an interview with TamilNet. “With the resolute backing of our people and the moral support base of the global Tamil community, we are determined to overcome the current challenges,” he said.

No Devolution!  No Compromise!  No more regional, language, and ethnic bigotry.  I grew up a Catholic Singhalese in the south of Sri Lanka,  where all people were treated fairly by all other people with extreme tolerance in keeping with our common Budhist culture.  No matter what religion, we are forced to adhere to by our Parents, we are all culturally Budhist which make us unique.  Get over it!  Woe to those who think otherwise.  Now that the end of war is at hand, do not make mistakes of the past which has encouraged extremists to resort to guns.  Sri Lanka is for Sri Lankans.  If you think of yourself as a Tamil, a Muslim, or A Singhalese, Get over it..!  It is time to think of yourself as a Sri Lankan first.!  If you are a Tamil and prefer to live amongst your own, step over to Tamil Nadu and have a good life.  If you are a Muslim and prefer to live amongst your own,  may I suggest Pakistan or Bangladesh ?  As it is, you are in Sri Lanka.  Resign yourself to live in this BUDHIST Country, Love it or leave it! For myself, I was born to the Christian faith and having gone through most of my life as such, with age and wisdom, have found new meaning in my Budhist heritage and the beauty in it!  So, my advice to all Sri Lankans is to be Sri Lankans, the beautiful people we ARE., if not.. Get OUT...!

Well said, OutLooking In.
This is the only way you can achieve true peace in Sri Lanka. That's why I believe in dilution and not devolution. We should never allow minority  ethnic groups to segregate in enclaves. We need interaction with all ethnic groups and live as Sri Lankans.

Post Be vigilant
Be vigilant do not put down your guard at this decisive moment. Suicide carders will roam more than ever now with the terrorist back to the walls (rather this time to the sea)

This is the time to beware of views like this that show a short, direct path to another 25 years of death, destruction and poverty.

When the ltte is defeated, the govt will be in a position of strength. It can make changes without fearing that the minorities will take undue advantage. Sri Lanka is a muti-ethnic, multi-religeous country. All its people have to live on its land. The govt has to create conditions where everybody can live with basic human dignity.
