Post Sri Lanka Government fails to investigate or stop Karuna gro
Munza Mushtaq in Colombo,  Wed Mar 28 15:47:35 EDT 2007

Despite promises to investigate abductions of children by the
'pro-government' Karuna group, Sri Lankan authorities have taken no
effective action and abductions by the group continue unabated, the
New York based Human Rights Watch (HRW) said today. The armed
opposition Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) also continue to
recruit children in Sri Lanka and use them as soldiers.

Sri Lankan government would be mad if it made any such attempt. Where's the common (short term) sense?

When some of the true facts about GOSL come to light , GOSL find it hard to digest.

GOSL should remember that it won't take long for Karuna to turn against GOSL..... Confused

Although we should support Karuna and Co., we must still make sure they do not abduct kids. Karuna has been recruiting kids for a longtime when he was working for LTTE, its hard to imagine that he has suddenly given up on the habit after going against LTTE. Howabout rewarding Karuna with weapons, ammunitions etc. in exchange of releasing the kids to their parents?

These HR JOKERS are not worth a droplet of piss. But what Revathi said is very true. Very soon other terrorist Karuna will turn to muzzle towards GOSL. It is important that GOSL take steps to counteract now brfore it is too late.

If the STATE GOVERNMENT can abduct the children and use them as CHILD SOLDIERS, who's going to follow LAW and ORDER in Sri Lanka??  Compared to them, Tigers are improving.

Yes.
But, if there is something inside the brain (Otherthan getting 10% discounts) Sri Rohana's government should understand it.
Government can do lot of dirty politics, but should have a limit. No body will belive GOSL.
These things will have long term adverse effects.

Few examples..
USA made Thaleiban and Alqualida to fight against russian backed Afgan government 30 yrs ago. Now biggest challanges to USA are them.
USA made HAMAS to attach "PLO" of Arapat. Now PLO is better than Hamas.
Even Rajeeve Gandi was killed by the LTTE who were fed by Rajeeve.

So one day Ranil or MRs son (Or Bacil R after MR's time) will solve the problem by giving noth to Prebakaran.
But Karuna will keep on fighting to east + noth central some areas.
Finally make 3 unitary countries.

Looks like only Dayan Jayatalike supports Karuna now. (He got a posting in Geneva for that contribution)
Are all the Karuna backers gone hiding ?

Imagine this scenario!

- LTTE and TMVP fighting
- TMVP and Army fighting
- Army and LTTE fighting

Who wants a 3 way war and complicate things further? You cannot disarm the Eastern Tamil forces BEFORE the Northern Tamil forces disarm. If the army dare try disarming TMVP before LTTE, they will fight back. They will resist because they know, LTTE will brutally hunt them down to the last man as they did with other dissident Tamil groups.

All who advocates disarming TMVP at this stage are fools with simple minds and not much grey matter. The only way a lasting peace will arrive is when all armed groups come under control of the govt. The first group that disarm or come under control of govt or destroyed must be LTTE. After that, the others will willingly follow.

Dear Athos,
I too agree with your view that all armed groups must be disarmed; but with a small addition :
“The only way a lasting peace will arrive is when all armed groups lay down their arms and the government troops also go to the barracks and take rest and all these parties come under control of an independent neutral international body” Confused

I don’t see the rationale for other parties coming under a neutral body. Whether the disarmament happens under a neutral body or the govt, the end goal is the same. Why would you want to take detours? Hopefully when such a time arrives, there will be international guarantees that hold govt accountable for honoring its side of the deal. This is the maximum one could hope to achieve. After the disastrous intervention by India, I don't think anyone else will dare to make any intervention of that kind.

And when is this going to happen?
What if MR wakes up tomorrow morning and gets APRC package out without disarming?

you know what you are asking: you are looking for a fish that should not live in water but in land. to make that happen, you are proposing a transplantation surgery which is removing that fish's gills and put an artificial lungs instead. great thinking. good luck.
