Pakistan's cricket coach Bob Woolmer was murdered in his hotel room on Sunday after the team's World Cup loss to Ireland, Jamaican police say.

A post-mortem examination established that the former England player had died as a result of "manual strangulation", police Commissioner Lucius Thomas said.

It's a sad day for Cricket and a shame on the subcontinent. Money got the better of a wonderful game.
How can one believe the results of any match from now on given that  people are willing to kill over a god damn
cricket match!!

May he rest in Peace..

Speaking of bookies wasn't Sri Lanka Cricket Board run by the biggest Bookie ??

Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful.  This tells a lot about the level of corruption in South Asian societies.

The WC should perhaps have been called off,
postponed to be picked up later at same stage.

An official coach for an official team was strangulated in the WC venue.
The game cannot get more evil and tarnished than this.

A massive cleanup is required in cricket.

Sad scene indeed, should the ICC ban Pakistan until they get their act together, like they did to the Sharjha tournament.

Do you guys recall when Australia was to tour Pakistan and Srilanka they asked for advise from Tony Greig on how to read the two teams.
What came out was a shocker.
Tony G .. opined " when you look into the eyes of the Pakistani players, you see no hope, hopeless players ", what you see in the Srilankans is what you get, they will fight you to the wire ".

Well said Tony.

May your journey of continuity be safe, Bob.

Post Dead men never tell stories!
The latest news says that there was a case of Match Fixing and Bob was about to let the cat out of the bag before he was murdered (dead men never tell stories) this was the opinion of a past Pakistani Test Player Nawaz.

How so?

I think the world cup should have been called off after it was revealed that it was murder. Call me old fashioned but life (specailly human life) is still precious to me. And if an event such as the wc was a reason for someone to get murdered then any respectable lot would see it fit that it be called off. It is not giving into terrorism as some highly intelligent being tries to portrait.

Malcolm Speeds ideology shows through. It's the money god he wants to appease. Human life should be valued more than any game.
