Post Sri Lanka says sinks big rebel arms transport ship
Reuters,  Sun Mar 18 03:30:35 EDT 2007

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's navy sank a large ship on Sunday it said was transporting arms for Tamil Tiger rebels and the blazing vessel and its crew disappeared under the waves after a series of explosions.

The incident, off the restive eastern coast and away from strategic harbour port of Trincomalee, came after a series of land and sea clashes over the past year and the military started new offensive to wipe out rebels from east.

"The Navy detected a suspicious 70 to 75 metre vessel about 195 nautical miles (400 kms) around 2.30 am (9.00 GMT) off Arugambey and the details given by the ship were false. We fired warning shots and they fired at us," said Navy spokesman Commander D.K.P. Dassanayake.

Post God bless our sailors!!!!
The country owes these sailors dearly. Their vigilance and bravery have once again prevented many great losses that would have been caused, if these weapons were allowed to be brought in successfully by the terrorits.

Two arms shipments sunk within 24 hours! And to think people actually re-mortgaged their properties to buy what now lies beneath the sea gathering barnacles. The money could have easily fed malnourished kids in NE for a whole year. What a waste!

On another note:

I would keep an eye on a man with a stocky build around 5.5” tall boarding a plane to South Africa. He may also have an associate with him with a bright smile and white shiny teeth.  He could possibly have a passport of a foreign country or a local passport and a Muslim name. Razz

These are some clear facts about the correlation between tamil expacts and LTTE terrarism in Srilanka
•    It is true that you came to Europe, USA, Canada as refugees of war in srilanka
•    It is true that you do all low level dirty jobs and earn enough money to have a luxery life
•    It is true that you people fund terrorism in Srilanka to bring your relatives to these countries to give a better life for them
•    Same time, you all must realize, you are destroying a country while breeding bunch of ignorant tamil generation in the North. “ Who will be benefited by having a so called imaginary motherland with bunch of fools controlled by a blood thirsty psyco (prabaharan) and his bunch of henchmen.
•    Think little and work for the benefit of the innocent and poor tamils in srilanka. Please stop funding terrorism in SL. Keep those money with you and use it for the benefit of the people of your brothers after salvaging tamils in srilanka from the ruthless .. hands of LTTE

Post Navy destroys Tamil Tiger arms ship off Sri Lanka 's east co
Well done our brave soldiers! 2 illegal arms shipments sunk within a metter of a few hours.

I bet it does hurt a lot to LTTE and its .. Be patient guys! Your days are numbered!

Feel sorry for Jack who thinks the 2 sunken ships are fishing vessels. When did the SL fishermen start using 75 meter long boats, 195 NMs off coast? Wake up buddy. Get real. Hope you did not invest in the shipment by taking a second mortagage on your house. What a waste of money as "Har" said?

Long live Mother Lanka!

The terrorists’ boys are not engaged in this types of unlawful activities. This must be a part of the great conspiracy revealed by Mongol and Modapthi I believe. The TNA people said that the tamil terrorists are not engaged in drugs or arms in Tamil Nadu a fortnight ago and it must also be very true. The poor fishermen in large ships were possibly doing deep sea fishing and found some arms and ammunition trapped in their nets and it is very unfair to sink those ships I presume.
Bless our sailors for defending our Motherland.

You are right "polburuwa". Please no one blame LTTE. They are not arms shipments but some poor fishermen doing deep sea fishing.

Those two fishing trawlers belonged to poor fisherman from an extremely impoverished area in Tamil Eelam.  Their hamlets were attacked by Sri Lankan military 124.47 times and tsunami 3 times in the past.  They were on a fishing trip for a one month supply of seafood for their kinsmen.  Now that they are gone, this act of SL military is going to starve their hamlet to death.

I am just helping Tamilnet to create their next news  piece

Post Next Step
Best thing LTTE can do now is, invest some money on a proxy to stage a protest that SLN sank  a fishing and/or a cargo ship.

It shoudn't be that difficult to organize with diaspora money.

Yes you are right. Have you heard that fools rush in where Angels fear to tread? Do you think that LTTE just attempts to bring in one trawler of weapons every year?
