What a fantastic police force - where were they all these years? If I remember right Anura B was using public property for a few days after being sacked. Any excuses IGP?

Any 15yr old kid would understand that this is only going to make Sripathy's allegations look stonger.

Even if he is guilty, is it a non-bailable offence?
Anybody with a microbrain should see that there are other reasons for the arrest & detention.

A Naval Officer, Rohana Gamage, has been arrested for having contacts with LTTE, as he was photographed with Karuna.
Mrs. Gamage said Gothabaya asked him to go to Batticaloa to meet Karuna.
She said her husband was not interested in politics, but Gothabaya pushed him into it.
Now, all those who had done any work for Rajapakse brothers through 'other means' will be targeted.
Bandaranayakes got their power by well and truly winning in elections.
Rajapakses got their power by all kinds of gimmicks and deals.
We all are in the western countries, and all comforts come along.
Who cares about the Bandas, Kandaiahs and Mohammeds of Sri Lanka?

The classic mistake of giving something more power than necessary by focussing too much attention. If your opponent engages you in a debate, fight him at that level. There are smarter ways to counter allegations levelled by Sripathi and co. This is what you expect from a typical third grade .. People somewhat understand the reasons for human rights problems. However, people do not understand the inaction of the govt wrt public sector corruption and mismanagement. The COPE report seems to have been wiped under the carpet. We need to see people prosecuted and sent to jail for the stealing and mismanagement of over Rs. 5 Billion taxpayer funds. Urgent action here is necessary unless Mahinda wishes to see being kicked out in the next election. Winning in the battlefiled alone is not sufficient. There is direct correlation between public sector corruption and mismanagement with all problems facing the country today. I guess we are long way away from winning against terrorism than we first thought.

Does anyone remember a picture clearly proving the government crooks swindling Tsunami aid in an official vehicle in South?
Was anyone punished?
Maybe the photgrapher, in the hands of underworld thugs.

Is it Sripathy really have something (like what he was talking about last few weeks) that bothers our boss,
or is this really Madumalane Mahinda as he called himself.
Also I think he is also sending a strong message to JVP.
Hope he can use these powers for a good cause like getting the APRC proposal out.
strangely there are'nt any more MR supporters left in this forum now.

Sri Lankan police arrests ruling party lawmaker over alleged
This is typically that of “pot calling kettle” story, such a degrading and shameful an act. If that is the case, then from MR to the peon / messenger of a lowest category needs to be vetted for misuse and abuse of public property. Remember! MR nearly kept all of that money meant for tsunami victims, how about that?
Those fired politicians may be dealt with other legal means and certainly not in this way. Wake up MR! At this point, you are fast becoming a clown of sort in the eyes of the international community. You, a novice came with nothing but a big mouth to occupy the highest seat in SL and with time managed to gain some recognition by fighting a war neglected by your predecessors. Try to do the right things by being honest to your self and being mindful of your actions. :!: :!: :!:

There are enough of ex-ministers still keeping state property. Does the police think they can score marks by finding some fault in somebody who is not good with the exec president? Law is not there for the police to use when they want to score marks and hide in the closet when they are scared to do so. This opportunistic Sri Lankan police did the same in the North and the East before the civil war started. They used the law to harass some poor Tamils and to protect some crooks. This I feel is one source of the problem.

This is not police work. This definitely was done in accordance with direct orders the police received from top. Anybody knows that the police force in Sri Lanka cannot work impartially and independently. The Police is heavily used by the politiicians in power, to carry out work releated to their political agenda.

So what you are saying is it is absolutely ok to use high handed tactics and arm twisting to get the APRC proposals through the way MR wants it and for that you support.

Dear MAC1,
I said it to be used for "a good cause".
If APRC proposal is in line with Thissa Vitharana proposals should be a good cause IMO. Country need somebody who can push it through till end. JR, Ranil, CBK all started but no bdoy can reach the finish line. Untill somebody do it SL will keep on climbing in the failed nation list. So let it be MR else we will loose another 6 or 12 years. In the news papers(Daily News) MR & brothers launching a massive infrastructure development program. Fews years will take for us to realise whether it is real or abracadabra.
If APRC does not comes as what MR wants he will make sure it happens the way he wants. I am not saying absolutely ok to use high handed tactics. But this is the sort of executive powers what is vested SL president. We cannot do anything, but just watch and clap the hands or hoot, as we do now. By the way 50.1% SriLankans should have known this better.
On other note definitely JVP is going to oppose anything that comes out of APRC.
So you will either be with MR or with JVP. There is no middle path. MR used JVP to come to power and JVP used MR for short hall of fame. It was fare game as both concerned since they used all the dirty tricks in book of SL politics to come to power. Now they will use it against each other.
There is no room for ethics in SL politics. So why let us worry when these politicians do fight each other.
Worry about the innocent civilians who fight every to see the next day.
