PALAMEENMADU CAMP, Sri Lanka (Reuters) - Hunched over a fire cooking rice amid a sea of tents as a new refugee exodus swells already cramped camps in war-ravaged east Sri Lanka, Krishnagobal Sivamalar fears for her future. Forced to flee her home in a swathe of jungle and paddy fields to escape artillery shells and air raids as the military seeks to wrest the area from Tamil Tiger rebels, the 25-year-old housewife salvaged only the red checked dress she is standing in.

Yep, rm7000, I completely agree with you.  This is a man (woman) made disaster. In natural calamities like the Tsunami or earthquakes in shorter period of time many tents can be erected.  In this situation the GOSL should take full responsibility and address this issue in abrupt manner.  If the GOSL says that they are freeing this people from terrorists they should look after the well being of these IDPs.

I hope the government will explore all possible avenues, to do the best for these unfortunate people. Only the LTTE and their supporters benifit from the suffering of these innocent people.I hope the international agencies do not ignore these people because they are now in government controlled areas.

This painful scene will end soon. But till then we have to support all those agencies to provide releif to these innocent civilians. But the releif agencies should not play LTTE politics or shout to cover their inefficiencies or make this an opportunity to thrive.

May be this is irrelevant to the topic here, but have to make it clear before the war mongers and the hardline boot-lickers labelled Mr Blair as a “white tiger” too.  As I mentioned previously, everyone else in the world now realised how important the CFA except the hardliners in SL.  And at one press conference the SL FM, quoting about cricket score and currently LTTE are leading and they want to take the lead?? And these politician playing with human life!!!

Target,

Like a lot of people said in the documentary, a majority of the Tamils are looking for a democratic solution. But how can they breed that alternative leadership when terrorist organizations like British Tamil Association force innocent people to give them money and attend meetings? With that, the BTA officers will spend luxurious lives in London and the Tamils in Sri Lanka will reduce down to a bunch of uneducated poor people, and the Tamil youth, nothing but a bunch of brainwashed animals who are prepared to blow into pieces for a terrorist who keeps his two sons in well looked after luxurious colleges.

I agreed with your opinion. By mean of the word releif agencies supposed to support innocent civilians. But will they giveup their own (hidden) benifits by helping to solve the issue.

Government is conducting a forced repatriation of Vahari and Ichchilampatru refugees into the areas of no infrastructure and livelyhood. These areas are still not cleared of mines. This is in haste due to swelling of refugees in batticalloa. The houses made by the rehabilitation ministry is like poultry farm without even windows where all the families are stuffed in. The money was given by the UNHCR and other agencies. This is neonazism and the international community is collectively responsible.

Re-habilitating the Sri Lankans affected by the war is as important as liberating them from LTTE.

The government must carry out rehabilitation with the same efficiency that has been demostrated by the military libertating them. All military gains will be null and void unless we win the hearts and minds of the people affected by the war.

Be interesting to know what you think they have been liberated from apart from their homes, livelihoods and belongings.

Still, it is possible the military will use its usual efficiency to rehabilitate them. After all there hasn't been a famine in South Asia since the British left, and I'm sure the GOSL doesn't want the suddas to keep the record to themselves.

GOSL doesn't have to worry about rehabilitating the refugees. They are letting Karuna runs those camps. The same efficiency that has been demonstrated liberating them???????????     Don't worry about them they are just Tamils.
