Yes, the other side of the coin is; can LTTE survive that long? Providing that the war will go on for another 3 years in this scale and no peace deals in between. Evil or Very Mad

If there is another Karuna in LTTE, it is dead and buried for ever. However, Govt has to grab the opportunity and go for it to the benefit of the country, rather than for any party political gains.

TOSCA, do you seriosly think what is being done now will be a "benefit for the country" ? Take the whole picture, I admit defeating the LTTE will be a benefit but the methods being employed right now will result in generations of Tamil people bearing grudges against the sinhalese.

Don't expect prices to go down. Your only hope is the rupee adjusting downwards to the dollar in accordance with inflation, but as much of the materials will be imported even that will save you little.

Our politicians have always missed the BIG PICTURE.

Like Tusker said, defeating the LTTE is a welcome thing,  but at what cost to society are we willing to pursue that victory? Are we willing to put aside our rights as human beings? Are we willing to look away while truly innocent tamils might be caught in the govt nets? Can we look away while free speech is silenced bcos it does not speak kindly of the president? Can we look away when mothers, fathers, kids and babies are sent back to homes now burning and in dust with the echo and presence of gunfire everywhere. With the LTTE waiting to prey on them, with SLA officers often mentally affected by the war becoming indifferent to the suffering of the innocent bcos of their shared ethnicity with the enemy. Hatred growing in the hearts of tamil youth as their lives are constantly affected by the conflict and some SLA officers who do not give a care to the well being of any of their kin.

This war is pointless if our society cannot stick together through it.
