    COLOMBO: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa claimed that "conspiracies" were being hatched to discredit his Government and asserted that he would leave no room to "betray" his motherland. Addressing a group of academics, intellectuals and mediapersons at the Presidential Secretariat on Saturday, Mr. Rajapaksa maintained that the killing of persons, whose burnt bodies were found recently near the road, was clearly done to cause damage to the image of the Government. The fact that these killings had been done at a time when representatives of international human rights organisations were here, showed this had been done by a certain organisation and that these were the results of the conspiracies being hatched against the Government.

MR has become second Premadasa withing a period of 1.5 yrs.

No point of complaining. The best mode is to act honestly in every form so that people will realize who is whom. It's a known fact that MR is trying to ride on the military gains to win the masses where his back yard is stock of shi..

The funny part is though he trys to boast about the military victories in the east, all these areas were under GOSL when Chandrika took the regins from uncle DB. For the past 9 months what Troops are trying to do is to gain the lost gound only and nothing new had gain.

Just because MR surrounds a 105 donkeys, rest of the people are not.

The whole society is led to the madness!! What conspiracy is there when the Police cheif accepts it before the Human rights discussions in Geneiva? May be the spin machine has gone out of control and Keheilia's work is done by his exellency!!

MR talks like the next door servant woman talking to the driver.

I thought he is in charge of all the armed forces, police, STF and the lot. Yet he says that some conspirators are doing all the kidnappings, killings and are getting away with all of them. What a scam!

The whole of Colombo and surburbs are full of the security forces and his men have not been able to solve any of these. How come?

Come on Mr MR talk at least like an ordinary simple sensible man (never mind like a leader of a country - sic).

Knowing SL police, I didn't pay much attention to what the chief said.  You pay them some $$, any answer can be taken from their mouth.  The head of one of the most ineffective organization in the world can say anything to cover up his ass.

There is some truth for what MR says.  It is possible some people are trying to discredit him.  Missing people and human rights is a major hot button against the government.  It is also obvious MR is trying to ride on military victories.  There are rumors that the captured are are being handed over to Karuna.

Usually those who shout of conspiracies without proof are paranoid. JR cooked up the Naxalite story and planted stuff at the Turret Road/Darmapala Mawatha (the building where Paradise Blvd is now) SLFP HQ to frame people and the case was tossed out.  Then came Premedasa with the same stories but he really had to face the  JVP terrorists. CBK came in and alleged the same over and over again.  MR is doing the same.  

Why? Because they get isolated because of security concerns.  Every President or PM in SL gets surrounded by cronies and adoring profound genius who will make hay.. IT is happening now too. It happened to RW too who had no clue about his cabinet full of "amu horas" who made hay while he was globe trotting as PM.  

In MR's case he is definitely trying to ride the Sinhala wave of patriotism hoping the Army will do the trick for him.


He has not responded to the serious allegations against Basil or acted on any of the allegations or started investigations. But he is now hell bent on destroying CBK because he is afraid that no matter what that like the Kennedys in the US the Bandas still have a following.  CBK may be down and out for now. But if MR does not govern well and arrest the corruption soon, she might make a come back in tow with Ranil.. And the JVP is agitating in the south as well. He is really not governing well under pressure.  He seems to have the same problem as CBK; he has outbursts. He needs counselling to help him handle stress. He is a good man and kind man and this is our last chance to beat the Tigers. So he needs all the help SL can give him. But he cannot simply behave like that  Pin Gona JR who was the master at framing innocent people to suppress legitimate criticisms.  

EVERYONE here in Colombo are talking about Rajapaske Inc.  The only smart one getting a job done it seems is Gotabaya. But MR is sadly mistaken if he thinks he can let all the charges go unanswered and his cronies rape the nation at ten nay hundred times the magnitude of the cronies of the previous Presidents.  Surely he must depend on trust worthy family for good advice, but what if they are not that honest?  Everyone has a kitchen cabinet and Mangy was part of CBK's coterie. That is how things are done. I won't fault MR for that, but what if they are not honest?

 What about Mihin Air Mahinda?  What sort of petty village ego wants to have an airline named after yourself?  

PLEASE DO THE JOB right and people will accept corruption as the cost of doing business in SL. That is how it has always been. BUT DO THE JOB right and STOP trying to say you cannot do anything when you are the Commander In Chief.

YES the murders in Colombo were the work of Tigers. But what about all the kidnappings and murders elsewhere?  Sure wipe out Tiger terras the same way the Israelis and the Brits did. WE have no problems with Tiger terrorists disappearing, but the way it goes right now is the Tigers are winning the propaganda war by smearing you.  

But you cannot simply complain or make allegations WITHOUT FACTS. That is what CBK did every day from stage hiding behind Presidential immunity. She said "APi langa file thiyanawa", "Ranil did this ranil did that" and all that crock only her cronies and @#$kissing sycophants believed.  

After 10 years of that poppy cock rubbish people no longer listened to her wild allegations.   She turned out to be very incompetent and presided over the only year in our history where we had NEGATIVE growth. She had no managerial skills, or experience or any time management skills. She had an incredible personality and a great charm like MR. But her governing skills were abysmal.  But even she did not do some of the absurd things MR has done: Mega jumbo cabinets and mega jumbo delegations with no results shown for this jaunts at our expense.  She did not appoint people outside the FMinsitry to FM. She chose her ambassadors carefully and listened to Kadi on that. MR has a big spender in Switzerland, and who ran up mega bills even in India, as his new FM WHY? Why couldn't he have invited a man like Laxman Kirella? or given it to Dr. Viswa Warnapala? or GL Peries? or even Ranil if we seriously wanted a national govt of unity? Now the UNP will try to sabotage him with the disgruntled wing of the SLFP who may still be loyal to CBK or just upset at MR's foolishness in getting UNP rejects to his side.  

MR  you are going to reach that point sooner than CBK if you do not act and act fast to arrest the deteriorating law and order situation.  

Let the professional military do their job.. They are doing a fine job and will win.

Your job is to GOVERN ALL citizens of SL and PROTECT all citizens and fight terrorism.

Regarding a unity government, it will never happen unless a 'gun' is involved.  The Unity is not in the genes of

In fact Mahin air was noticeable for the test run in Ambantota paddy fields for the durability testing and successfully simulated with a tissue made kite. All of sudden Godabaya got out of dream in the midnigt and call the pilot and informed that LTTE carders might attack through kite so then it had to be suddenly parked in a forbidden lake for a short period of one year untill Keheliya Rambukvella comes and arrange a press meeting (with no inspection) to inform the media that it was the act of Terror by LTTE.

Leading Sri Lanka is no easy job.  We all know how inefficient things are run.  Whenever they put their name on something, all of a sudden it becomes personal and runs well.  Most leaders are different class of people.  They can be superficial, paranoid, self centered, etc.

If we all want the commercial success to Sri Lanka, we need an airport and airline and this may be the way to go.

Commercial success many not deliver the GNH (Gross National Happiness of the people living in Bhutan).

No matter how good he/she may be, the conspiracy that started and enrooted in the system during the colonial time will continue to work. The other end of the strings are outside our boarder. So, MR do not have to say that openly. Nobody talks about the human rights violations done by any secret organization in the world. They are there to curb on-going conspiracies against those countries. So, dear MR, the only way is to strengthen your secret services, strength intelligence services, and then you know the rest. Work on it. The . is not as black as what you might think it is. DOn't worry about what pudiths write in these forums.

Excellent post RogerThis.  Couldn't agree more with what you say.

MR sounds like a raving lunatic with his "conspiracy theories". I can accept that the tigers may be involved in a campaign to smear the govt and the country. it wouldnt surprise me. afterall, they are shouting about HR violations just as loud as the rest. it could also very easily be elements in the govt. - maybe close to MR, maybe not. it could be local thug police officers using their muscle for extortion and such. it could be the cronies of some fool in parliament or the cabinet who were put into the police force for their election work and are now making use of their new "powers". It could be MR himself getting rid of dissention. Mugabe almost had his opposition leader killed by the police at a protest march. he was aparrently severely beaten with gashes on his head and shoulders because Mugabe called this "Save Zimbabwe" campaign illegal.

The fact that we dont hear a thing about the progress of investigation on these matters is another reason to question MR's allegations.

Excellent post RogerThis. Wish we had more members who are not afraid to criticise our politicians.

Every Sri Lankan has to support one of them at election time, but by all means criticise them when they make mistakes, and hope & pray that the politician happens to read your criticism.

The best protection we can give to our politicians is to show them the right direction.

PS: MR's conspiracy theories may be what the fortune-teller told him. So it is a tough taks to convince him otherwise.

I'm not sure what's going on... but I do have to say... I have heard the exact same stories spread around when JR, Premadasa and Chandrika were in power... that the president has a secret pact with Fat Praba...  (that even Ranil does as well)... now, I'm not saying that it's all false... but it's the same story... there's nothing new to it... except a few words here and there...

So I don't know what's going on with it... and don’t take me as a MR loyalist… cos I’m not… but I have to say well done to MR for having the guts to stand up to the LTTE and international community... (it reminds me of Ranatunga leading to the 96 World Cup)... random I know, but he showed guts and determination where his predecessors didn't/couldn't... like yes, we’ll need political strategies… but right now, military needs to close the chapter on the LTTE (which the past governments couldn’t do)…
