The biggest victory this time is getting the civilians from the grip of the tigers. Tigers will ruthlessly use them as a shield otherwise. Hope the Government forces will treat the fleeing civilians well, and make sure they settle again in a better environment. I suggest the Government to set up a separate task force to take care of the IDPs. Their health both mental and physical, children's programmes, maternity programmes, must be done not for the sake of doing it but with great love and care for our own Sri Lankan Tamils who are about to be liberated from the Natzis.

Yes, correct. Treat them with "love and care" once you bombed the smithreens out of them, and destroyed thier properties, put an economic embargo that includes even the most basic amenities like medicines and food. Have u ever wondered whether its YOU the sinhalese who decides how tamils should live or whether its the tamils themselves who should decide how they live, forget the Tigers??? How could YOU speak for Tamils saying that you have "liberated" them? Thats like the wolf crying when the sheep was gettin wet.

Its the Tamils themselves. Hold a referendum among the Tamil of North East if you dont agree with the Tigers or if you honestly believe Tigers are simply terrorists and dont represent the majority of Tamils's views. Simple as that.

well har,

priya certainly seems to know who should not/does not speak for the SL-Tamilians but I would like to see who the poster says actually does represent / speaks for the SL Tamilians

I am hoping for a reply otherwise I will have no choice but to assume that this is simply another anti-GOSL opinion for no better reason than pure racism of "Tamilian vs. Sinhala"

I too hope that GOSL would come up with a war stratergy against LTTE, which targets only the terrorists causing absolutely no harm to the civilians. But can it be done? Well i guess it can be done to a certain extent if the terrorists allow people to come to the government controled areas during operations, instead of trapping them as human shields.

I think its the LTTE which decides how the tamils should live. Do you disagree?? If you are a tamil, I hope you dont, cause you'll be soon gone....

How can we forget the tigers? There is a war against the tigers!!! They are the main cause of misery to the whole nation. There is no way that we can bring peace and harmony to this county if we dont 100% concentrate on tigers. Besides how can we forget the barbarians?? Even during RW's time where the country was "prospering" under the CFA they gave us plenty of reminders of their presence by systematically eliminating the military intelligence, muder of the foreign minister, murder of many other tamils of opposing views, triggering a string of claymore attacks soon afer MR came into power, failed attacks on ships, blockage of water etc etc.

And when this referendum is held will the non-LTTE tamil parties be allowed to carry on their campaign in NE to express their views? Or will it be a one sided affair??

Those are peripheral issues that can be solved with international third party agreed by both sides. These modalities could be worked out. But before we get there, will the SL gov't EVER agree for a referendum in the first place is what u you should be asking urself. If I remind you, Tamilselvan demanded for a free and fair referendum in NE in the last round of talks.

Priya,

Thamilselvam asked for a referandum? He should ask for it after he has learnt what democracy is. He must be thinking of a referandum like the elections of the North and the East where LTTE child soldiers were sent to cast votes like a musical chair excercise. International observers clearly saw that. Now you are saying these modalities can be worked out later. Yes, we can, but replace the word later with after and add "the rule of teh gun of Prabha is wiped out, and when people like Mrs. Rajini, Dr. Neelam Thiruchelvam, Mr. Lakshman Kadiragarmar, Prof. Hoole, Mr. Anandasangaree" could enjoy freedom of speech and live without fear of a barbarian like Prabhakaran.

Priya,

When talking about freedom of speech, have you ever noticed that Tamilnet has no room for other views, like what you enjoy here?
