The sources told The Hindu on Thursday that the suspects, including a Black Tiger operative and a Sea Tiger operative, ventured into Indian waters to find a safe route to the target, which is a high security zone.

The Indians are doing a good job for Sri Lanka. It is time Sri Lankans dump JVP and JHU who always
antagonize the Indians.

The news item on the following link:
http://en.rian.ru/analysis/20070223/61154444.html
says that India is going to buy 120 Mig-35 fighters.

Surely GOSL can ask India to use some Mig-35 to control smuggling by LTTE!

MiG35 is a beauty.
$300 million for 120 MiG35's. $2.5million per MiG35.
This is a great deal for India.
GOSL just paid $2.462 million for second hand MiG27.

We should have piggy backed on India deal and get the latest state of art MiG35's instead of 4 generations old reconditioned MiG27's.
(Probably the 10% commission won't be avaialable for Mr 10%.)

The reason for India getting good deals like this is because it is powerful, united, and since recently well off relative to the other south-asian countries.  http://en.rian.ru/analysis/20070223/61154444.html
Pakistanis who can think should be ruing the day they split from India. Sri Lanka and the NE should seriously consider going into a confederation with mighty India after amicably splitting first. Then Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan should join, not neccessarily in that order.

As much as I would like to interpret things that way, I can't.  For every Tiger that India has intercepted, how many have gotten away???  Why are the Tigers now operating in India which was such a hostile environment in the 1990s?????

Recent events have shown that India has slacked off in keeping its territory Tiger-free, but on the positive side these interdictions may serve as a wake-up call.  If the Indians really want to keep the LTTE off their lawn, they will have to reconsider their current security relationship with Sri Lanka.

And that has of course nothing to do with the actions of the GOSL.
