    NEW DELHI: With an eye to corner a major share of Sri Lanka's military imports primarily aimed at countering the LTTE, a high-level Pakistani team led by Defence Secretary Tariq Waseem Ghazi will visit the island nation on Monday.

The visit comes in the wake of reports of alleged sleaze and bad quality arms received by Sri Lankan forces from Pakistan.

Colombo has placed orders worth up to 100 million dollars with Pakistan for tanks, armoured vehicles, different kinds of bombs, explosives, ammunition and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), premier journal Jane's Defence Weekly and Sri Lankan media reports have said, confirming that the value of the deals could go up to 200 million dollars in the next 18 months.

I think that it is about ime that we abandon the fiasco that there is one Sri Lanka. There are now now two independent countries . I suggst that the north along with Trincomaleee forms one state and the East be given the choice to join a Sighlese Sri Lanka or an independnet northern state That is the reality and that is how it is going to be. I was for a robust  Federal State but now I find it no longer feasible. The whole currnet government set up is corrupt and engaged in arms trade with no inner strengths to draw from to be a civilized nation. I hope that it is all done amicably. The Government and there is no prospect of any other Government capable of acting resposibly in the interests of even the Singhlese. And those politicians who have retired in Europe and the US, Please do not come back.

East completely under Gov't control.  
80% of North is under Govt' control.
Left overs are Mullaitivu and killinochi with no hi rise / hardcore building or roads but so called child soldiers locked up with out any weapons from out side world.
Even their leader is got locked up inside the bunker. This is how we learning from the news agents and you people from this forum.

Hiring new recruits for army / amnesty for the deserters and purchase orders for more armouries!!
One thing for sure, as Mangla mentioned if Army and their top leaders’ wants move into and guard jungles/ no man lands they will have to authorise many purchase orders.
MR & Bro thinks that wining some jungles and chase out tigers is what retain their post and powers.
There are counting down towards their sudden election and nothing but “WAR Victories” is the only trump they have to puff!!! But how or when people will realise that mullaitivu and Killinochi worth 100’s of millions!!!!!!?

Ooops ... What else we can say .... N-Eliya forming another seperate state for estate workers ... Negombo should be seperated for Moore or other miniorities ... East for Muslims ... etc etc. 40% of Sri Lanka for 80% of population (Sinhalese) and 60% of the country for 20% population (others). 60% of Coastal Area for 40% of population and 20% costal area for 80% population. Also, spend lots of of moneys for border security.

Also, let Sinhalese be civilized by allowing the LTTE to do what ever they want like killing monks, innocent commutors etc etc. I guess LTTE is the most civilized group in the word. They help people to "Rest In Peace".

For your information, reacently GOSL informed India about two air-crafts of LTTE.  Also, read more papers and do more studies if you want to come to a conclusion for writing something.

Wining the jungle gave a moral boost for the SL troops. Also, that shows what crap LTTE was talking for last two three years. Entire world thought that LTTE is more/equally powerful than the SL Army. But after capturing the so called "Jungle" (Before it wasn;t a Jungle but a seprate area controlled by LTTE ... everybody said it is a strategically important area for LTTE to attack SL Navy and supplies for the northern penninsula), everybody knows what the capabilities of LTTE.

Everybody knows Mulathiv or Killinochchi is not worth 100's million, it worth more than that to someone who is thinking about a one country. Buying weapons to defend the country is not only to fight in Mulathiv and Killinochchi but also to defent against LTTE like groups. As far as I know, the militory power of the GOSL is nothing compared to most of the other countries similer to Sri Lanka. So I apprecite what GOSL is doing.

I can see who you are and whats your plan. Anyway, I know winning the East has increased a moral of the soldiers. Also, they are happy that they are not a target of LTTE in East. Also, they are happy that Trinco is safe as they knows how important the Trico is for them. LTTE always started the elam war from Trainco as they know when they criple Trinco, sending food and weapons to solders in the north is harder. I suggest you read more about the LTTE's strategies. Also, loss in the east has creipled the recruitment of solders to their terrorist netowrk. If the government can continue attacking the LTTE, for sure they can be run over soon. I suggest buy the weapons quickly and keep on going attcking the LTTE. I guess, the president MR will not act like JR or premadasa asking SLArmy to withdraw from the area they captured.

LTTE is not crap. They are well organised criminals drug dealers. It is harder for only SL to cope with LTTE unless other governement stops supporting LTTE. Specially UK is supporting LTTE over 100% and still they keep on supporting thouth they banned LTTE in their country. Lots of tamils in UK are harresed by LTTE even very reacently but UK is not doing anything. It is same with USA ... Australia and many big countries (Canada). LTTE raised funds in thouse countries and send to LTTE. So, i think spend even over $100million on coast guards (SL Navy) ... SL Army ... SLAF ... can be justified if Mahinda Rajapakse managed to get rid of LTTE.

Still I says, when LTTE lost the East, they says it is just a jungle and you are one of LTTE belivers. I can see how important the east for them and now they can't clim east is under their wing. Go Sri Lanka ... defeat LTTE terrorism ...

I think relying only on Pakistani weapons would be a big mistake. Already there are allegations that Pak. supplied faulty weapons.
The best idea would be to go directly to the Ukrainians. This would be cheap, quick, and avoid most of Pak\'s broker fees.

Tamil terrorists are nothing but animals and they live in jungles. So when the jungles in the east are lost the animals must come to human settlements. Tamils terrorists being animals can not survive in an urban environment therefore they become extinct. Good therory no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This county is for all. Estate of elam will never be a reality in time to come not even a pipe dream. The killer tamil terrorists must be anhiliated from the face of the earth. Get the arms and ammunition even from hell if we have to and do the job. 33% of land and 66% of coast line cannot be given to 7% of terrorists.(if the so called innocent tamils do not rise against the terrorism and blue murder thay too become terrorists- so dear friends if you want to be called innocent tamils rise against the tamil terrorism)

I think I agree with polburuwa for certain extend. The statistics that polburuwa presented are mostly correct. Eelam
claims 33% land and 66% coast lines of Sri Lanka. I am not sure about the 7%. It is probably true that 7% of the whole
Sri Lankans are terrorists somehow or other. It might as well be 7% of the Tamils are hardcore fighters carrying weapons.
In any case, polburuwa\'s passion overrides intelligence. The solution to the problem by military means alone will probably
not work out.

Besides, somebody thought that Eelam was a pipe dream in 80s. I think it will be mistake thinking an Estate/Moslim
Eelam is pipe dream now.

I hope that the new EElam will eventually be a multiculutural modern Europen min-state. I wish that the Norweginas accept EELam in a political and or economic union. Solheim and his colleagues worked hard to save the ungrateful Sri Lankans from themselves. Solheim and his colleagues deserve all the support from the Sri Lankans instead of the abuse that has been heaped on them. I hope they take sides sides now and prevent further violence and assure the Tigers of protection from the Singhlese troops to get the tiegrs to abnadon violence not just terrorism. I still beieve in a robust Federal Model but unfortunately from what I see in these columns ans the startegy of the  of the Government it is engaged in running an arms trade.
