National Security website claims .50 caliber weapon was captured, while the MOD website claims it was a 12.5mm. There should be some consistency with these reports.

 No breath for Barbarians
Well strategically planned attack on Barbarian LTTE will give new life for innocent Civilians in North & East. These barbarians use a fake 'Ethnic Issue' to earn living by killing innocent people.
Only 400k live in North while 2600k live among majority Sinhalese and other communities.
International Community without getting into traps of these barbarians LTTE should help legitimate elected multi-ethnic Government of Sri Lanka to dis-arm these barbarians before these terrorists get strongly hooked up with other terrorists Al-Quida.

I think that they are consistent. The .50 caliber means half an inch and it is approximately equal to 12.5 mm (12.7mm is more accurate).

Yes, that makes sence. Still, we have 2 versions of the same report on 2 websites duplicating work.

Ofcourse its TamilNet!!! They are the only ones who tell the truth.
Enation, it took Tamilnet 48 hourst to find out the brutal killing of the hindu priest. Thus, I sugggest you give tamilnet another 24 hours, and if they dont say anything about this incident, you can come to the following conclusions...
1. This story is a fabrication by the SLN.
2. The boat in the picture of the defence website is nothing but a SLN fast attack craft camouflaged as a sea tigers boat. (The fishing boats of the elite sea tigers)
3. The arms and ammunition in the pictrure belong to the SLN itself
4 The dead body is of a innocent fisherman brutally killed by the SLN for the purpose of taking the fabricated photograph.

Re: Sri Lankan navy destroys a Tamil rebel boat, at least 8
There should not be political settlements with terrorist, they are invaders to our motherland therefore it is the right of the military to defend the nation against aggresors, we should be behind the government on any SINCERE effort taken to tame them and get them to laydown the arms, there cannot at any cost be a two forces or armed forces in this nation what is there is a terrorist extablishment, so it has to be brought down to instill the democratic right of the people. then during the elections the people will decide their rightfull leaders that should be the only political settlement the government should have.
it wont be surprising if the LTTE has already offered the MR and his clan some good amount of money to stall and let them survive, anyhow the biggest traitor of the nation Tirren Alles is one of the KEY memebers of MR campaign, so it not impossible to dream the worst when we have such people with weak hearts that can be so immotional to baby sit old man's tit for tat desires, what happened so far is that the country is still searching for the ultimate aim where it should be in in a 20 year projection,
therefore while commending the forces for its acheivements we should not unnecessarily hype up all these military advances as mighty acheivements, we should worry if this not so with all the legitimate power and freedom to use UN approved weapons to defend the nation. I heard one weak Amry man beat up a man in bus from Anuradhapura to Colombo because he was stopping the every junction for his personal reasons and his excuse was that the civilians are alive today due to the army and they owe them them anything at any cost. the truth is nobody owes anything to the army they get paid through our tax money and this is a sign of breaking donw of dicipline at ranks with no fear to the code they swore to uphold.
So the final question is what is government acheiving now or plan to acheive, or do they even have an ultimate end in mind.?
