    Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered a high-level police inquiry into an alleged conspiracy by some ruling party politicians to cause 'physical harm' to him, The Sunday Times reports.
 
Addressing the All-Island Executive Committee of the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in Colombo on Saturday, Rajapaksa had declared that there was a conspiracy to assassinate him with the help of the LTTE, the paper further said in its lead story this week.
 
The police inquiry was instituted after a politician, recently sacked from the council of ministers, had said that the 'head of the government will be finished in three months', the paper said.

this is ridiculous.Mahinda was  a ltte target any way.But mahinda cant implicate his opponents like Ranil,CBK,Mangala,Anura as ltte supporters.It will not make any sense.Now these ministers  security is stripped.Mahinda stripped CBK security also.He wanted all of them dead.They have got big threat from ltte.in sri lanka It is president who decides security of ministers,former president, VIPs  not IGP. Mahinda wanted the war.He uses war to undermine his opponents .He uses war to destroy democracy in SL.But we may see whether he will be successful in his mission.

after MR won his election he talked about "making southern consciousness". are all these circumstances a part of that campaign?

Any profound genius would know by now that more than anybody the LTTE would want MR to be in power. They want to expose to the whole wide world the type of LEADERSHIP which in place in Sri Lanka and the unbelievable extend of human rights violations, extra judiciary killings and abductions which are taking place in Sri Lanka.

It is highly preposterous to merely think let alone suggest that the LTTE would collude with dissident ministers to assassinate MR. In any case if MR was assassinated it would most likely be by JHU, JVP or the Southern extremist Sinhalese opposed to the CFA. I am very sure the Interpol, CIA, KGB and other International Intelligence already know this fact. You may fool the Gods but don’t try to fool the Sri Lankans.

At the moment his sole survival depends on capture and elimination of Sun-Goat led Terrorist only. If he achives this within a short period as much as an 1 year, he can bounce back for a landslide victory on any election. Getting this delay means he looses the position he has now.

This joke isnt funny anymore. first AB speaks out, then he and the others get sacked, then they lose their security privileges. Now MR has the audacity to suggest a link between these politicians and the LTTE? is he mad? How does he expect to be taken seriously by his people and this country when he behaves likes this?! Does he actually expect us to believe that these 3 have ANY ties with the LTTE?? What a loser he has become...finger pointing and talking BS like he is some king over all of us and can do whatever he wants. When these dissidents get assassinated, i hope he has something better to say. I cant imagine what words he has for us when CBK gets capped. Snap polls now will remove his majority in parliament and curb his powers to some extent. i hope the proper authorities work for this.

Ranjit is right that the LTTE would want MR in power. while the country's attention is on the political problems, they will regroup and prepare and even influence the current political situation with their agents roaming around the country. and in the end of a snap poll, the JVP will only come out stronger. now the whole country is getting tired of the UNP and SLFP and many will put their weight behind the JVP and other minority parties. the way MR is acting, the only way they would win an election is if he marches the army into every districts polling booth and force ppl to.

XXXXXXXX EVERYONE knows our country's president is a target of the LTTE at all times. Hes the head of state for gods sake! But does he truly not expect anyone to notice he is trying to run this country like a dictator/mobster?

PLEASE act responsibly and support the effort to bring PEACE to ALL LAnkans.  Tamils have suffered for too long under terrorism and government inaction. That has to change. Why not a Government of National Unity?

MR did the right thing to show leadership. He had no choice when people scold him indirectly in Parliament and attack his brother who is doing a superb job in the war effort.  AB CANNOT and WILL NOT survive without the trappings of power and privileges or a government mansion.  That is why he was given Visumpaya which is normally left for more important ministers. Ab is not likely to live without Government support.  Unlike Lalith or Gamini he doesn't have any acumen nor following nor any respect outside his own circle of friends.  He needs to apologize to MR.

I agree that Mahinda have all the reason and rights to sack Mr. AB. Look at the other side of the story, anyone againsts the head of the Government or anyone look like LTTE (how funny) be it a Tamil or otherwise, simply they are LTTE or LTTE supporters. I will be not suprised if AB arrested unter the PTA.

This is just an example what is happening to tamils in Sri Lanka. Once again LTTE proved that they had taken the right decision by SELECTING Mahinda as President to acheive thier ultimate goal !!!!!!

There is only one man that is capeble of ruling our country Thats MAHINDA,Ranil is some one like Anura,with no talent or wisdom.....but i think MR should think twice before going after rivals and taking revenges,He has to finish the WAR,I think he can if he tried

MR has taken a great decision. We don't need useless ministers any more. This time we should support Mahinda without any condition. For me always country first.

Earlier during president election all the SLFPers (including AB, Mangala etc..) were telling that UNP is LTTE backed.
It had turned a 360 degree cycle now. AB, Mangala etc.. accused by their own gang as LTTE backed dissidents.

 They did not name the dissidents. There is a set of dissidents with the government, it could be them. You are right when you turn 360degree cycle it comes back to where you were, so it is the UNP dissident group they are referring to.
