    The factional war within the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) intensified on Friday, when President Mahinda Rajapaksa sacked three ministers, including two high profile cabinet ministers, Mangala Samaraweera (Ports) and Anura Bandaranaike (National Heritage).

It had to be done. Things would have got complicated if the problem wasnt nipped in the bud. The rest of the show depends on how Mangala reacts.

Heading like these “Tensions within SLFP come to the fore”, “Sri Lanka President fires three ministers over dissent”, “Peace pact with LTTE was a mistake: President Rajapakse” clearly show the direction of SL and its policy.  People on this forum will realize why 49% of the SL population voted for just one party!!!  at the last Presidential Election!!!!!

What a wonderful news.I was waiting for a while.
Anura is not an educated man. I saw him the way he used the language.in the parliament It is  an insult to Sigiriya and the national heritage. He thinks the SLFP belongs to him and his sister.Mangala and Siripathi are the slaves of Bandaranaykae family. Threat to his lif is fabrication ,just to show off. Who is going to kill him . It is a waste of energy,better to kill a tiger than an profound genius!!!.  Mahinda was very patient, and at last he has taken the right decision. UNP not going for all party conference. This shows UNP puts party before  the country.Pathetic. BBC sinhala put big page about Anur's talik.That is another chapter of traitors!. The next thing is UNP-LTTE Givisuma-very soon this will be abolished.(If MOU  between SLFP-UNP abolished by UNP as it doesn't work!!!!.)

Mangala Samaraweera and Anura Bandaranayake were the best friends of JVP.

Actually people are going to be so disappointed about the green and the blue parties.

Now, we are going to see a bunch of JVPers laughing all the way to parliament.

I am sure the dumped ministers would not go quiet.

I dont understand why the last 3 paragraphs of this news item refering to LTTE and ethinic war etc appearing.

This is not a bomb blast or an assasination for which those 3 standard paras are applicable.

Chandrika outsmarted and outmaneuvered AB so he is not really a threat. Mangala did have a base of support and some credibility but he too may not be able to stand on his own without CBK on his side. He was CBK's darling and creation other than being Mangala Innocence the Dress Designer aka Sri Lanka's Versace.  AB has always been pompous and overrated and has in recent years deteriorated mentally due to his alchol problem. His liver is shot and he is going downhil.. Without the trappings of power, adoring sycophants and freebies tossed his way by his friends he cannot survive. He will probably cross over to his Buddy Ranil's party again or sit in the opposition with him but without power and a big house he cannot live his ostentatious lifestyle where he gayly took his batman and servants on official trips as Speaker. Now some say as Speaker he was fair and serious but in recent years since his mother died he has deteriorated and probably led to CBK being even more isolated in her last incompetent years as President.

AB will not be a threat but CBK is still. Gampaha district whether you like it or not is die hard Blue country and Bandas have thousands of followers because whether you people with inferiority complexes like it or not, the feudal system is still alive in SL and they still have followers because of their patronage and service to their districts. That is why Mrs B still won with a thumping majority in 1977 even when only 7 other seats returned SLFP MPs and Mahinda got wiped out. Mahinda on the other hand was a STRONG LOYALIST who stood by Mrs B and her wing of the party even when the JVP UNP nexus was unleashing terror in SL in the late 1980s. HE WAS ALWAYS AN SLFPer unlike CBK or AB. AB took his mother to courts. In fact this way MR did what Mrs B should have done but failed to do because of a mother's love for a failed son who can only be a minister in a country like SL.  He has to recover from his chronic alcoholism and obesity problem to be effective.   He runs off overseas more than anybody else except CBk.  Why?  He was not there during the Tsunami time and did not care to return although he was supposed to be the Tourism minister. In fact I think he took that to be Minister of TOURISTS the way he arrogantly traveled and wrote abusive letters to anyone who questioned his jaunts at other people's expense. HE NEVER SACRIFICED ANYTHING for ANYBODY. HE should stop using his mother's and father's names or his sisters escape from terrorists to be his own qualification. His website only claims his connections as his achievements because he has NONE of his own.  He went to london to get a degree because he could not go to Universities in SL.  

MR WELL DONE in firing a man you should have fired long ago.  But I am not sure if it was right of you to fire Mangala. AB went around undermining you at your election and doing CBK's dirty work like you did once by attacking Kobbekaduwa. AB, sorry man, you ARE NO Mrs B in character, courage or anything for that matter. Mrs B never ran off like you do.
