COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) _ Sri Lanka's military repulsed a Tamil rebel suicide attack on the capital's port on Saturday when it destroyed three suspicious boats offshore, the Defense Ministry said.

The boats did not stop when ordered to do so, forcing the navy to fire at them, said Lt. Col. Upali Rajapakse, a senior official at the ministry's media unit.

This is only a last try by tje LTTE. They can never come to Colombo, maybe they are trying to scare the int. national sosity not to invest in Lanka. Colombo is the most safe place in Srilanka. LTTE is trying to damage the image of MR.

GoSL is very strong now with 52 cabinet ministers, well above the numbers in all the developped western countries.


Srilankan airlines will have good business as these 52 ministers and their officials need to make many overseas trips.

Vehicle importers will have good business as these 52 ministers and their officials need to get many vehicles.

Unemployment levels will come down as these 52 ministers and their officials need lots of supporting staff, security guards etc.

Roads, bridges, hospitals etc will be built everywhere as these 52 ministers need to develop their areas.

If this report was from an independent source would it not have read "alledged discrimination"? Or is AP quoting an unknown adjudication by an LTTE kangaroo court?

When this news gets quoted by other agancies around the world, the image of Sri Lanka gets blackened. It is also the false image of SL that the LTTE's propaganda machinery tries to feed the west.

It is not the first time this same sentence has appeared in an AP report during the past few days (a sign of AP's cut and paste journalism ?)

Can the reporter in question explain please?

looks like the BBC and the Tamilnet are doing the GOSL a favour by reporting this, unlike the other Colombo based media.
