Now look at the headline: No damage to hospital say journalists

Who is going to say now that BBC Sinhala is biased in favor of the Tamil Tigers?

You are going to use dumb man’s statistics to prove your case.
Please look at the historic trends and present the % of times BBC was biased towards LTTE.  I am sure the numbers will suggest that well over 50% times BBC reported FOR LTTE.

Once in a while BBC throw in things like this so that SJ can defend them.

The same news hasn't be used to boost SLA's credibility or LTTE/Tamilnet's discredibility - interesting.

Here's the link to a list of news on Sri Lanka at the BBC site http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?tab=ns&q=sri%20lanka&recipe=all&scope=all&edition=i

Perhaps someone can count all the new in these 377 pages of lists, and enlighten us on how biased the BBC. That would be an objective conclusion, right?

I did a quick search on BBC protest LTTE Lanka:  Here is the result:

I am thinking brothers did their homework before they faced the camera and perhaps BBC listened to them:   Very Happy

I see some sisters in the crowd as well - do I see a hint of gender bias there? Wink

It appears to me that the crowd is referring to news within a short date-span. And on the statistics they claim the BBC (and SLMM) put out, wasn't it traced to the DS of Muthur?

Post Biased Broadcasting Corporation
Why?

Newpapers, websites, etc. are read on a day to day basis. People tend to frequent these sites regularly to 'see the news.' The usual path is the BBC front page. For those casual readers, the South Asia section often has pro-LTTE bias. That is on most days the stories on the sad conflict in Sri Lanka reflect pro-LTTE views. The last one that I remember is the coverage of the Vakari massacre, where the GOSL lobbed shells in return fire, and they hit a school. The BBC were big on that... for days. The news that the LTTE used mobile launchers to draw fire was not properly presented. As a propaganda tool it was devastating for the GOSL. After that event, the Army was better at using LLRP units to knock off the LTTE, which is the tactic that should have been carried out all time.

The BBC Sinhala Service is a back door for 'ethnic' representation and their stories are not usually seen on the South Asia section of world news. This is typically British in its racism: "The natives can come in from the back door."

Do make academic points by all means. But, do make them well. Cutting and pasting is a problem I noticed this tendency here among those who have nothing substantial to day. The list provided shows that the LTTE committed several atrocities in the past, and naturally a news agency must report these... what is bad is the softening of the coverage. Few Westerners know that the LTTE is responsible for the bulk of homicide bombings--that is what they are, as the intent is to kill others.

Why is this knowledge poor in the West? Ah! The BBC is a major culprit in not disseminating the news as it happens and without biad. If the BBC had been as interested in covering the LTTE as it had been interested in covering the IRA bombings, then the entire West would have known the barbarity of the LTTE.
