Post Surrender
Guerillas don't usually hold on to territory that cannot be defended. The Tigers are carrying out strategic withdrawals for the moment. They might surprise everyone elsewhere by outflanking the military.  However, it is still possible to beat them in the east because they will withdraw to Killinochchi Mullaitivu region which is their heart.  Dont ever underestimate the Tigers please.  SLA has been humiliated many times in their big camps by smaller more determined Tiger cadre at Elephant Pass, Pooneryn and at Mullaitivu.  Tigers wont surrender if they are dedicated troops and yes some might surrender if they are the child brigades or forced conscripts.  But dont count on real tigers to surrender.  There is some serious fighting ahead of us and lets us all hope that SLA will win even if creates a few more dollar millionaires. We dont care as long as the job gets done. If it does not get done we will keep sliding into a failed state abyss.

Talk is cheap.  We have been fighting and making grand claims for 24 years now.  In the meantime the Politicians are filling their personal coffers and corruption has reached new heights.  What will the end result be? NO ONE will begrudge a few dollar millionaires on commissions and omissions and bribes and kickbacks from the war effort AS LONG AS THERE IS  a REAL STRATEGIC VICTORY this year.

Tons of people associated with the new regime are enjoying the gravy train once more.  A cabal runs the nation and it is becoming more and more autocratic remniscient of the Premedasa days.  And no one is allowed to question the incompetence and failures.  IS THE WAR REALLY WINNABLE? IF SO I HOPE SO because I dont want to see more top officers, and top politicians sending their children off to top schools or Dartmouth at SL tax payer expense and to see more champagne, Pajeros, and more death without a real result.

Lets hope sanity and truth will hit him soon so that we dont fall deeper into a corrupt abyss in the pretext of fighting a war. . ....This is indeed the last chance for us to win and defeat the LTTE and restore hope.  The JVP is right: It said this government is worse than previous ones vis-a-vis corruption.  And they are part of the Government !! How many cabinet ministers do we need to win this war?

India Accepts LTTE Plea Over Power Project

COLOMBO, Jan 4: The Indian government has rejected the controversial eastern Sampoor area as the possible site for the construction of a 500-MW coal-fired thermal power project. The move came after protests by Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tiger rebels and the pro rebel Tamil National Alliance. They said the project had a ‘hidden political agenda’ to evict Tamils from the Sampoor region.

Post Some sacrifice all....

These soldiers and the police sacrifice their lives, limbs and family to pave a better life for us. What do we do? Just write in forums?? Wonder how many of us who talk big regularly contribute to the funds set up for the heros who have sacrificed their lives and limbs.

We just donated $5400 to Anuradhapura Hospital to buy some  urgently needed equipment. We have done this many times and we will continue our fund raising events for helping our brothers who need all the help they can get. We should never forget the sacrifices they have made in trying to eliminate a group of ruthless killers and bring peace to our mother land. It is our duty to help them and their families with urgent needs like wheel chairs, medicine, rehabilitation equipment and other essential items.

and what would be the point in that?
do you expect ltte cadres are sitting in their bunkers with their laptops rechargeable batteries fully charged, with wireless internet access checking on what the tamilnet is saying about the on-the-ground situation at the place they are at?
