DILIP GANGULY - Associated Press Writer - COLOMBO, Sri Lanka - (AP) Suspected Tamil rebels detonated a roadside bomb in northern Sri Lanka - on Monday, killing one soldier and wounding two others, while three military camps in the east came under rebel mortar fire, the Defense Ministry said.

Another year just like all other years. Big talk from both sides and false starts. When will the killing end so that Tamils and Sinhalese can go on with their lives contributing to economic prosperity? Take a cue from EU. They admitted two poor former communist third world states into EU on Jan1st. Very soon they will also leave SL behind and we will keep begging for aid.

Roger, how does this relate to SL ? Which 'states' does it need to admit ?! EU is a (loose) confederation, all entities in it are fiercely independent nations with independent setups and defences. The EU does not even compare with u.s and Ind and other versions of federal nations. |
