Congratulations to our President's "Mahinda Chintana" and his policies in bringing peace and prosperity to our beloved Sri Lanka. The majority of our people believe in peace thru strength. This is a good warning to the LTTE, UNP and other trouble makers. Do not play games with our people. If you are genuinly interested in peace we too are. If not, the Sri Lankan people have spoken and the LTTE virus will be uprooted once and for ever from Sri Lanka. We are a nation of peace loving people of all races and all religions living free and working hard towards a better future. Many many blessings to Sri Lanka and to our esteemed President.

Hilarious, Ranil is the one step forward and signed the peace agreement with LTTE. JVP--SLFP alliance went for a fresh parliament election to throw Ranil out of the Prime Minsiter seat. Ranil is the one always has been telling that the problem should be solved through dialogues not through war. How can one say votes against Ranil are for peace? Arent the people vote for UNP for peace? Ever UNP asked mandate for a war in this election? What are you talking here Mr Atu?
If you are seeing peace now to some extend in this country, it is because of Ranil who selfishlessly, not thinking of his narrow gains in future politics went further miles to bring peace to this nation. Remember brother.

I think this election send a clear message to those who try to take a chauvisnt path to come to power.

I agree with Negombo. We, the Sri Lankan people, abhor violence and extremism. I for one, mistook MR to be a war monger, but the way he has conducted himself is exemplary. In the face of deep provocation, he did not fall prey to the LTTE traps. One of the corner stones of the JVP campaign, the ouster of Norway, seems not to have evoked any interest in the general public. The JHU polled only 135 votes in the buddhist sacred city of Anuradhapura. The people have spoken. If the LTTE let the tamil people in the north and east speak their own mind, I believe they too would echo the same sentiments as their bretheren in the south.
The tamil people should understand that the sinhala people are not the JVP. We the sinhalese should come to understand that the tamil people are not the LTTE. We do have differences and our politicians continue to exploit that to alienate us from each other. Each side is led to believe that they are the wronged party and the other side is the brutal enemy and if justice is to prevail God has to strike down the other. Given a chance to live together we may find that we have more things in common than differences... if only the extremists would let us.

Please don't forget the history. It is the Ranil and the UNP government who created the infamous Black July and killed the thousands of innocent Tamils and paved the way for LTTE terrorists to immerge as freedom fighters. (I can recall you more .. such as destroying of Jafna library etc..)
After Ranil was defeated for the 12th time consecutively, he found an easy way to come in to power, using the help of LTTE. He signed a peace accord which recognized LTTE as a legal organization. Don’t forget this was the time that LTTE was in a deep trouble with the international situation against the terrorists after 9/11 attack.
The worst he did was betrayal of Army intelligence unit and help LTTE to kill all of them.
The damage he did to the country is irreversible- just by revising the cease fire agreement or by what ever mean.
