TORONTO (CP) _ The reputed leader of a Tamil gang whose battle with rival gang members on the streets of Toronto claimed the lives of more than a dozen youths in the late 1990s, and once led to a midday shooting on Highway 404, was deported late Monday night to Sri Lanka. Kaileshan Thanabalasingham was one of the main targets of Project 1050, a joint police and immigration investigation that ended with the arrest of close to 51 alleged gang members on Oct. 18, 2001.

Oh No!!! Poor guys who always claim that since VVT is Prapakaran's home town any thing VVT is naturally LTTE are in a shock! Since I believe the judges decision I have to agree with him on this issue too. But I don't think he realy believes the above statement on this particular issue. Because there are scores of people given protection under Canadian law due to the fear of persecution by SL Gov. Remember the famous 'big fish' statement by equally famous former foreign ministers statement on Suresh Manikavasagam's case? I hope SL will not make another 'big fish' mistake, so this guy can come back to Canada.

You want LTTE to controll them so you can accuse the LTTE for threatening the 'law abiding' Tamil gangs! If these gangs are so violent why the RCMP didn't do anything for so long? Infact they, the RCMP want these gangs go out of controll so LTTE come into the picture and get into the local low enforcement mess! LTTE is too smart for this trap. The RCMP was waiting with that bait and LTTE didn't bite it. After realising it the RCMP rounded up most of them in a pre-dawn sweep and locked them up. I heard they will eventually be deported. But I'm not sure.
Then like 'Democratic Ramraj' of 'swiss mess' these guys may return to another country under SL Gov. patronage for their DEMOCRATIC work among the 'undemocratic and terrorised' tamils with different identities!!!!!
I  hope they just stay in their second countries insted of coming back to do a 'Geneva' and get 'swiss messed'

Why can't Canadians put him in their jail?

LTTE collects millions of Canadian $$ and use them to destroy Sri Lanka.  Canada never took any actions against that.
Sri Lankan government should refuse to accept this criminal.

I think this right. GOSL should take a decision about this.

GOSL should send him back. Even if he was kept in the jail, another headache for GOSL.

Another way, he can cooperate with GOSL while being in the jail. Then, GOSl can decide.

I don't buy this. if the RCMP wants to 'bury' LTTE they could do it without going through the 'bait-process' you have come up with.

Secondly, if LTTE can effectivly control any dissidents in Toronto, if LTTE and WTM can 'take-care' of those who publicly oppose them, can control all the tamil media, why couldn't LTTE control these gangs? Don't give some some story like you tell to the kinderganten kids- that RCMp is waiting with a bait-
Was RCMP waiting with the bait when the WTM thugs beat-up DBS Jeyaraj with the base-ball bat? or RCMP was waiting with the bait when WTM thugs go around Toronto thretning shop-owners to close shops on Maveer day?

The ONLY reason why LTTE didn't want to stop these criminal gangs is that LTTE 'use thier services' whenever they need (to vandalise houses and shops, threten and assulat people etc.,)

SriLanka should deport him back to Canada, telling if they feed these serpents, live with them, we have enough here.
