    Colombo: The government has laid down a series of conditions for the Tamil rebels to re-man political offices in areas under government control in the north and east, compelling the rebels to indefinitely put off the reopening of their offices, officials said.

The 28 conditions were communicated to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Jaffna leader Ilanparidi in a letter from the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) following a meeting they had with the security forces in the area about the Tigers' intention to resume work tomorrow, military officials said.

The Secretariat for Co-ordinating the Peace Process had also dispatched a short communiqué addressed to the SLMM on Monday stating the government's position on the issue.

It would be even better if the LTTE men were not allowed into the GOSL controlled area at all, and he people would be grateful to the GOSL by all means.  This will do good for the security situation of the Government forces, but for the people there as well.

First LTTE must show what is their political work so far done! LTTE has nothing in black and white about their political work because LTTE never printed a political manifesto! To do political work, a political plan is needed.

LTTE has no idea of returning to any democratical process. Now they lost millions in extortion, so they want to come back.

It is better for ordinary tamil people if LTTE barred completely!

In certain ways, LTTE governance will be much better than the GOSL ... for one thing, it will be peaceful and disciplined, there will be no dissent, any opposition will be swiftly eliminated like Rajini Thiranagama.

Neither SRICANADA nor the LTTE has the right to say 'don't worry about Tamils'. You guys SIMPLY don't have the right to speak on behalf of the entire Tamil community.

LTTE claiming to have the right to speak on behalf of Tamils is same as Osama claiming to speak for the entire muslim world.

It is also better all the Tamils live in Sri Lanka other than LTTE controled areas to go to LTTE areas.  Why they live with Cruel Sinhala people?  And with a cruel GOSL?
