Peace broker Norway to meet Tamil Tiger rebels on Sri Lanka'
Shimali Senanayake in Colombo, Wed Mar 15 13:42:03 EST 2006
A top Norwegian diplomat will meet Tamil Tiger rebel leaders on
Thursday to try and ease escalating tensions with the Sri Lanka
government that has cast doubts about next month's peace talks.
Hans Brattskar, Norway's ambassador to Sri Lanka and a key player in
the Norwegian-brokered peace process, was expected to fly by
helicopter to the northern rebel-held town of Kilinochchi, officials
said.

The Sri Lankan goverment is the most stupid goverment in the earh who promise the most ruthless terrorist group to disarm other groups who bear weapons for their self defence from the very same enemy the LTTE.
And its the joke of the melanium that LTTE who claimed to be the sole representative of tamil nation begging the Sri Lankan goverment to disarm other military groups,, it clearly shows the misarable state the LTTE is in both from public support and their own security..
Its like cutting all the nails of the rabit before sending it to the den of fox.
I would no wonder if LTTE facists ask Sri Lankan goverment to disarm its forces before coming to the third round of talks!!!

No Gamunu,
Government has only agreed to disarm any one who is operating in cleared areas. It's every body's understanding that no other grous operate in cleared areas. But if some one is operating in uncleared areas GOSL has nothing to do with it. That is why there is a Ceasefire. If tigers want government to disarm Karuna or any other then they will have to withdraw from east and let security forces enter eastern uncleared areas. Thats the story.

They'll ask the diaspora to buy them the binoculars and torches from Amazon.
Now if the cancelled talks were to have been in Thailand, shipping of the goodies might have been more problematical

Only Sri Lankans who are interested in peace and LTTE terrorism are living in foreign countries and in this forum. Majority of Sri Lankans living in Sri Lanka are not worried or think like we do. They are more concerned about earning and paying bills. Top politicians and officials are well off and they will have no financial worries when they finish their term or retire. They woud have accumulated enough wealth for all their generations to come. Future leaders and top officials would be the sons and daughters of these people and they will continue to govern the same way. There will be no middle class in SL. Handful of rich and powerful including thugs and terrorists will control the poor. Don't waste your time worrying about SL and getting your blood pressure raised up. Read a good book and listen to some nice music. If you want to help Sri Lanka, send some money to a poor family.

Most inconsiderate and arrogant comment I have seen regardless of whether you support GOSL or the LTTE.
When you left the country, you may have gone because of fear (from Government, LTTE or others) or for economic reasons. Regardless that does not make you a hero and curse or look down upon people who have chosen to live in Sri Lanka.

You have totally misunderstood my comments. I haven't cursed anyone who have chosen to live in SL. I curse the thugs and crooks in GOSL and LTTE. I feel sorry for the poor and innocent people who have to suffer because of these crooks who are clever in manipulating the masses for their own benefit. I hope you understand now.

Politicians are politicians.
If you had believed all what politicians uttered before election and now got disappointed it is not politicians problem.
Politicians are always consistent. They say one thing and do another thing.
After 50 years acquainting SL politicians you should know them better.
If you walked into polticians trap it is your fault.
You have to set your expectations right.
Then your blood pressure is controlled by you, not by the politicians.

The govt promised to disarm anyone carrying weapons in cleared areas. If no one has been disarmed yet, then clearly there hasn’t been anyone who has been caught breaking the law by keeping unlicensed weapons. I am not sure if TamilSelvam understand this, but it appears he does not. He is now refusing to go to Geneva as you predicted.
Norway will inform on Monday that LTTE will not to go to Geneva for the second round
