COLOMBO, March 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Leaders of Sri Lanka's political parties will probe the deal signed by Tamil Tiger rebels and the government last month in Geneva, party sources said Sunday.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has summoned an all-party forum for Monday to discuss the outcome of last month's talks in Geneva between his negotiators and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels.

Post CFA and Peace
This is very good step by the President Rajapaksa to explain and convince these parties (JHU, some in JVP) that the CFA and way forward towards a permanent peace are the steps initiated by Ranil W’s UNP Govt 4 years ago.

At that time CBK, MahindaR, JVP, JHU were criticising Ranil’s proposals.

Later CBK understood the realty but MahindaR, JVP, JHU were continuing to raise objections to Ranil’s proposals. Even JHU's leading monk (Uduve Dhammaloka Thera) understood the way.

After Nov 17 election the President and main JVP leaders understood but not JHU.

Remaining JVP leaders and JHU WILL BE enlightened after this scheduled meeting.

JHU is a huge strumbling block.

JHU and JVP both compete for the same voter base. As such when the JHU takes a so called patriotic stand, the JVP has to stand firmer, even though it understands that the stand may not be practical or even patriotic iun the actual sense. As both parties don't have the responsibility of running the country they can get away shouting provocotive statements.

Several months ago, I joined this forum as one who did not support MR. However, grudgingly he is gaining my respect. I like the way he is handling the Bogollagama issue. I like the way he is standing up to CBK. I liked the way he handled the LTTE provocation and used it to rally the international community around him and isolate the LTTE.

We all know now how cunning he is in halndling JVP during last round of Geneva talks. But we are yet to see any deliverables from him rather all seems to be back-downs. For example,

1) Promised Sri Lanka talks to Geneva talks
2) Promised no helicopters to LTTE to giving them VIP treatment at BIA
3) Promised CFA amendment to CFA agreement including disbanding of paramilitary
4) Promised small cabinet to 90 people cabinet
