The government of Sri Lanka has deplored the large number of killings of Sri Lankans of various ethnic groups after the ceasefire of February 2002. The government says these killings have seriously undermined the ceasefire and expresses its grave displeasure and disappointment that deficiencies in the ceasefire agreement have been exploited in this manner, leading to serious strains being placed on the enforcement machinery of the system of law and order.
