Associated Press, Tue Jan 31 07:17:58 EST 2006
DILIP GANGULUY - Associated Press Writer - COLOMBO, Sri Lanka - (AP) The Tamil Tiger rebels said Tuesday they will pull out of upcoming peace talks in Switzerland unless the government takes greater steps to protect Tamils against abductions. The breakaway Peoples' Liberation Front of Tamil Eelam separated from the LTTE in March 2004 and is believed to have a significant number of followers in the island country's east. The LTTE, whose main power base in the north, has accused Sri Lanka - 's military of backing the breakaway faction. The military denies the allegation.

LTTE Standard Operating Procedure for Talks of any sort.
Agree to talk.
Find a reason to threaten to pull out.
Pull out anyway.

Tamils and Muslims need to appreciate democracy
The democracy in Sri Lanka was instituted by British and protected by Sinhalese. Tamils are going behind a dictator and Muslims also following non democratic leaders like Hakeem.
As long as they do that there will be no peace in this country. No matter what Sinhalese have stuck with corrupted but democratic UNP and SLFP. Unless JVP turn into a democratic party they will be rejected by the Sinhalese masses.

LTTE is a real Cry Baby.
I am sure they planned this;with the new peace talks are high up in the agenda, LTTE have a new flat form.
It is clear now, LTTE admit that it does not have full authority in the east. If LTTE are so powerful, why their members get abducted? When the hunter is hunted, it is some thing to be concerned with.

Oh gee, when are the LTTE going to release all those people its abducted over the years? How about starting with that policeman it still has in custody - you know, the guy who was chasing a paedophile whom the LTTE gave refuge to?

Nice, so LTTE is not interested in peace. This remind me of my kid brother crying to mummy when things got a bit difficult. This is not a quality of true leaders. Step down let more capable tamils take charge of the northeast!

 GUYS, DON'T RIDICULE LTTE
Hi Guys,
Do you know that the US Embasy in Colombo had issued a report requesting the release of those abducted?
GOSL still says it is not aware of this abduction, near an army post. Are they playing their usual tricks?
You guys have the freedom to hate LTTE, but when you write something without knowing facts you lose credibility.
Bye.

Hello
Based on the past performance of the LTTE and their intransigence vis-a-vis "Peace Talks", or for that matter, any kind of talks - you should know that the first thing the LTTE does after agreeing to talks is they find an excuse to leave the talks. While there is a possibility these people have been abducted by person/persons unknown (Peoples Militia ??), for all you know, the "disappearance" of these people may have been engineered by the LTTE itself in order to create the excuse which can be later used to walk-out of, or not proceed with the talks.
You have to admit, there is a certain air of the ridiculous about this where the LTTE is deeply concerned about the disappearance of five people while ignoring the deaths and disappearance of thousands.

Not only GOSL, LTTE is also unable to find a solution - and there is no reason they (LTTE) cannot go back to war. Fact is, they won't. They cannot afford to, politically

The Peace Talks should be postponed until case solved. It's ok for LTTE to murder Kadirgamar, it's ok for LTTE to commit thousands of CFA violations as documented by the SLMM (see their website), it's ok for LTTE to blow up boat, it's ok for LTTE to kidnap policemen, but it's absolutely not acceptable for a tamil relief agency employee to disappear.

As long as TIT for TAT is going on there won't be peace. It makes me to laugh how some people try to justify the kidnapping.
Mahinda doesn't have control over army or other groups like Karuna's. He better step down and give the rule to who has the guts and power to rule the country. Otherwise soon there is going to be Army rule in Sri Lanka. I am waiting for the day to see the guys who are cheering the abducters.

It is a joke that the LTTE is crying now about made up abductions. This is standard LTTE operating procedure. Agree to talks and then create wild lies of imaginary abductions or harrasements, and walk away from the talks. Let the LTTE either put up or shut up. This should be the last time for talks. If LTTE walks out, let's go to war and wipe out these terrorists from the face of our mother land. Investigaing these made up lies is just a waste of time. The Indian Air Force chief said they are ready to assist the Sri Lanka forces anytime. Lets get over these stupid talks in Geneva, gain world support, and rid our country from the LTTE cancer. Now or never Mahinda.

5 more TRO kidnapped.
Wouldn't be a suprise if these 'kidnappings' are the handy work of Pottu Amman's henchmen. These low-level terrorist thugs would do anything to get attention and find an excuse.
For Pottu Amman, 'sacrificing' the lives of 10 TRO is nothing of concern, if that is what needed to safeguard the 'bunker-hiding' leader. LTTE has done this sort of thing in the past, there is no reason to think they wouldn't pull the same trick one more time.
On the other hand, if karuna or anyone else, want to block TRO from the east, they would have done this long time ago. TRO men are probably would have been easy targets.
Bunker leader was forced to agree for the talks after "Erik" told him there is no way out, and the drunkard from London translated the message to the bunker-leader. Now that he agreed for the talks, Pottu amman has to find a way out to dodge the peace-talks, so ... bad luck for the TRO guys.
Remember, if you work for LTTE, you are at the mercy of its leaders. You are 'disposable' anytime the leader wants.

This is typical LTTE tactics. Next thing they will say is to withdraw all the SLA forces from North and East before they can negotiate. LTTE knows how to take advantage of the peace talks.
Poor, innocent LTTE , GOSL is causing so much grief and hardships to them, it is downright discrimination.
