Post Sri Lankan leaders call for moves to check violence
xinhuanet.com,  Sun Jan 15 13:48:13 EST 2006

COLOMBO, Jan. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake and the main opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed serious concern on Sunday over the escalating rate of violence in the north and east of the country.

Wickramanayake addressing a public function at Galigomuva, 157 km northwest of Colombo urged the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels to adhere to the Norwegian backed cease-fire.

"Only the government can not maintain the cease-fire and the other party must also abide by it," Wickramanayake told the gathering referring to the violence that has claimed over 100 lives since Dec. 1, 2005.

The casualties include military personnel, civilians and members of militant groups.

HONURABLE PEACE IS THE PEACE WE COULD ACHIEVE BY SAVING THE ALL LIVES OF YOUTH IN ARMY, LTTE, CIVILIANS, KIDS EVEN ANIMALS.
but i dont think we can achieve it now. we can have disgrace war.

This news item was in the discussion forum for the last 24 hrs but nobody commented except 2 brief comments above.

There is no point in these leading politicians expressing "serious concern". They all had enough time during last 25 or 30 years to solve this problem, but nothing was done to solve.

Ranil W atleast signed CFA and temporarily stopped the war.

Ratnasiri W's team declared war during election and won the election - now expressing "serious concerns" just to get the votes of masses again in the next election.

Already 141 people have been killed since 01 Dec 05 (GOSL forces 74, NE Tamil civilians 37, NE other civilians 4, LTTE cadres 25, Other areas civilians 1)

Wickramanayake wanted to tear of the CFA before election.
They damned the CFA.
Soon after he became PM he made big statements like he will declare war and crush LTTE.

Now Wickramanayake is his eating own words.
He is almost begging LTTE to hold on to Cease Fire. Embarassed

There is a saying "Blessed are the Peace makers."
War Mongers Will Be Cursed.
The latter is definitely happening.
