    COLOMBO, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Attackers threw a grenade into the compound of truce monitors in Sri Lanka's restive east early on Saturday, damaging vehicles and a building but causing no injuries, officials said, as fears of a return to war grow.

The first direct attack against the monitors since a 2002 ceasefire halted a two-decade civil war came just hours after the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) reprimanded both Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam rebels and the government over a spike in violence.

"A hand grenade was lobbed into our compound in Batticaloa and exploded," said SLMM spokeswoman Helen Olafsdottir. "We don't know who was behind it. It is the first time one of our offices has been directly attacked."

Some 60 unarmed monitors, all from Nordic countries, have been there since 2002.

Whoever whatever says, LTTE caders are out of control and LTTE can not control even their caders. But, they never admit it but may TERMINATE those out of control caders once summoned to Kilinochchi.

You are right AnuD. Only GOSL can control the army, the whole world knows well. Srilankan military is  most disciplined military in the worlds history. Thank you for your comments.
 

The Norwegians is in control of the SLMM, so it is surprising the LTTE is attacking the SLMM. General Haukland has been more outspoken lately and even called the LTTE liars for fabricating a false CFA violation this week. His statements could have angered the LTTE.

The Norwegian facilitators and SLMM have been under fire in Norway today. NAT published their report about the LTTE in Norway and the facilitators. This report is damaging for the LTTE. Recommend everyone to read the report www.senter.no/norway.pdf

Even though the SLMM has been biased towards the LTTE, it is puzzling the LTTE is attacking the SLMM. It is obvious the LTTE does not want to have any witnessing and recording their atrocities and CFA violations.

Who said it was the LTTE that attacked the SLMM?? I bet my left hand that it was the "THIRD PARTY" the SLMM was loudly promoting all these days..

I thought WELL DISCIPLINED LTTE do not go out of control. THANK YOU for acknowledging the SL ARMED FORCES are the most disciplines and, on the other hand, LTTE is not that disciplined. We knew it. Otheriwse, summoned to Kilinochchi and after that become a Maaveerar.

SLMM should not have been so bold enough to utter foolish comments about the paramilitary actions and asking the government to stop same. They must remember they are residing within the sovereign state that they are accusing of.

This sounds like war, smell likes war and this must be war.

Congratulations to all those who have been advocating war, you have won. Now it is like watching any game. Look at news whenever time permits and see what the scores are; get a bit angry and be happy if the score suits your thinking.

In the mean time let us also remember that it is the lives and misery of people, what get on these score boards.

Deciplnes of any armed forces will depend on the situation and the type of conflicts they are dealing with.  Rememeber, facing gurrilla war in Afganistan and Iraq, US and its so called civilised allies always humiliated China, Russia, N. Koria and some delevopping countries of non civilized armed forces and human right abuses.  Can they utter a word against anybody now after the revealation of Abugrib, Guvantanamo, Afganistan, secret torture cells in Eastern Europe and many unknon.
However, governmoent forces have not committed well planned massacuring of civilians and ethnic cleansings under the orders of its leaders.  But, Serbian forces, Lebonon Paramilitary under the backing of Isralel (Sharon) and LTTE have done these kind of autrocities.
However, none of those could be justified.

  WHAT KIND OF JUSTICE IS THAT. SO, SLMM should continue to lie. Just keep on petting LTTE until oneday they get rehabilitated. On the other hand, keep on blaming GOSL becuase that may lead to war.

Norweigins should remember what happened to the Indians, what happened to the late President Premadasa, and what recently happened to Ranil, the opposition leader. It is amusing to see that those who nurtured LTTE were the biggest victims. LTTE has no mercy. If you give them a ride, they will jump at it, but will kill the driver at the destination. But, one thing we should remember is that Normal Tamils have nothing to do with this type of cowardism. They have much more advanced traditions in a well developed culture. LTTE is a black sheep. There is no other way but to support an alternative strong democratic Tamil movement to develop the N&E. All Sinhalese should support them to do that. Without that alternative, the Tamils will have no future. They are our brothers.

This magazine is biased and anti humanistic. They are religious fanatics. It is a sad to human kind.
