Force Tigers to talks, Lanka tells Norway
sify.com, Thu Jan 5 07:34:07 EST 2006
The Sri Lankan government wants peacebroker Norway to put pressure on Tamil Tiger rebels to enter into dialogue.
Government spokesman Nimal Siripala de Silva said he expects Norway’s International Development Minister Erik Solheim, due in Colombo on January 23, 2006 will pressure the Tigers to compromise on their stand that talks must be held in Oslo and agree to a venue in Asia which the government prefers.
"We will tell him to pressure the LTTE to come to a reasonable solution," de Silva told reporters here.
"We hope we will be able to end the deadlock soon," he said.
However, there has been no word from the Tigers on agreeing to a compromise.

 Let start the war.
Ceasefire monitors said the killings resembled executions. "All five were shot in the head," a spokeswoman said.
BBC

LTTE want nothing but a separate land. If this is not giving to him there is no point of talking.
If a separate land is not in an agenda of the talk, it is just waste of another few years. In such case it is better to finish this with war with any cost. President has to take this decision right away.

Re: Force Tigers to talks, Lanka tells Norway
MR should first fulfill his election promises. i.e. Tell Norway that their role is not needed anymore. He should tell the IC to mind thir own business & publicly declare there is nothing to negotiate as there is no Tamil homeland.

GOVT'S CALL FOR TALKS
The recent "BOSNIA" type of execution of high school students in Trinco, brutal murder and rape of a 20 year old girl in the North and the shooting at University students , the lectureres & professors are certainly not the type of incidents the Govt.
and the officers of the armed forces would have expected to happen as international community has taken a serious note of it and these acts were carried out due to indicipline in the armed forces where law & order in the forces cannot be main-
tained.
Now the President would have realised his folly of packing the army and the Govt. with hard liners which gave an indication
to the rank & file of the forces that what govt. wanted is 'shoot at sight' of the unarmed civilians whom they think are anti-
govt elements . Look at the plight of those parents who lost their loved ones, brought up their children through hard times, hidden their children from Ltte recruitment drive and army harassment, and got them to pass the University entrance
Exams and finally brutality of the armed forces dashed their high hopes in a single day in peace time. In other countries the armed forces have to answer for every bullet used in peace time but in SL, the dead who paid a high price have to answer for the use of bullets.
NORWAY,who appears to be weakened by the criticisms levelled at them by the govt, critics should not waste their time in
calling Ltte for talks as govt. has not created condusive atmosphere for talks by reducing tention in the NE but infact esca-
lating the situation by supporting the Para military forces and defending the actions of the armed forces. Talks at this stage will be just an eye wash.

What happened in Bosnia is just like what happened to thousands of Sinhala and Muslim people in most of villages in north and east. Unarmed civilians were massacred without any provocation or prior notice.
But these students, who ever killed them, are not just peaceful civilians according to the reports. They were given military training under LTTE and given light weight arms. Anyone who bears illegal arms is either a criminals or a terrorist.
But, this is not an excuse for a legal army to kill somebody.

 NIMAL SRIPALA De SILVA
I watched him on the telly. It is ridiculous to ask Norway to put pressure.
There was only sarcasm in his eyes. Kind of ridicule for LTTE.
It is obvious that LTTE has nothing to talk about with this Govt, after MR's statements.
This is only an eyewash for the Interrnational Community's consumption.

AMAKA, you are entitled to your oppinion but the truth of the matter is that they are high school students aspiring to become under graduates. Do you think such people will take up to arms or training as you claim.

Navalanka,
I have very good experience with undergraduate who bear arms. They are more aggressive than school children as they start to think that this is the point they are really disconnected from the control of their parents. This arrogance and spirits of university undergraduate can be converted to any barbaric thing you cannot even imagine. If you can recall some events took place in universities you can imagine that. If you like I can give thousand of examples.
But this is not to defend this killing is right.

Why don't you pack up and go to Tamil Nadu? North and East of Sri Lanka belong to all Sri Lankans. I hope you are not retarded to understand that SL is one country. You should do the same like Israel then after occupying N/E for a long time. What Sinhalese occupation you are talking about? You have killed and chased away all the Sinhalese from North and East. But you are not ashamed to live with Sinhalese in the South. If you don't know, majority of your people live with us in the South. Shame!!!!!!

Remember , Istreal left Gaza , affter Arafat gone, we need the same thing here in NE , tamils biggest obstacle is LTTE leader to achive the Tamils aspiration.

My friend, If the LTTE Wants the land , it could have been acived long time ago, LTTE leader wants just blood nothing else . it is regardless of race and religion.

 waste!!
talking people like amak and co. are waste about SL. He knows abt US, if you want to talk. LTTE is not baned in SL. Say if a student is having arm can you kill them. You can kill anyone under the emergency rule. This rule is ther for more than 10 years. So, any one can imagin that how many of the Tamil/Muslims might have killed using this rule. But amaka will say no one have been killed yet. ask him!
