LTTE forces civilians to observe harthal in Trincomalee
Munza Mushtaq in Colombo, Tue Jan 3 12:12:32 EST 2006
LTTE cadres today disguised themselves as representatives from a so-called "People's Organization" in Trincomalee forced civilians and businessmen in the area to close down shops and their business
ventures to protest against an alleged 'murder' of five young men the previous night.
According to Army reports, as a result of the threats, normalcy in Trincomalee was disrupted with closure of many shops, public and private agencies. Absence of transport facilities caused inconvenience
to many commuters who were seen stranded at the central bus stand since early morning..
Several schools were also affected according to reports. However, security in the coastal town has been strengthened after loss of lives in Monday (02) night explosion.
"LTTE's latest strategy, as it appears, was meant to blame the Security Forces and the Police for its own failed machinations and thereby try to provoke the masses in order to bring discredit to the
Security Forces and Policemen," army reports further claimed .
The accidental explosion of a hand grenade on the beachside at Trincomalee, near the library last night (02) at about 8.00 p.m. killed five young men and injured two others.
Information further confirmed that some motorbike riding LTTE men were seen early this morning roaming around and asking the public to remain indoor, as a token of protest to the alleged 'killing' of five young
men on Monday (02) night.

This writer of this article (Munza Mushtaq in Colombo) must be a vary very clever person. He observed those LTTE carders operating in different name, in the army controled area. He could not convey the message to SLA, I think, that is sad???
Please atleast learn the basics when you say you are a reporter. News is not what you think. It is what happened. If you really do not know something do not write any more. I will welcome if you can write the reality. This is what we lost in our country.

The blame game has been there from the beginning of the north east conflict in Sri Lanka and most of the time an incident is neglected with time without any punishment or investigation who are the real murders.
Karuna Amman has revealed in many occasion that LTTE did many such event in order to arouse Tamil people in Sri Lanka and in foreign countries. In sametim LTTE’s websites give priority for such a news.
News article says LTTE forced civilians to observe harthal in Trincomale. This is bit suspicious event as LTTE never organized harthal unless this is planed by them.
There are several killing in these few days and I don’t think nobody in the world can justify such killing unless he is insane.

Protests and tension in Trinco over deaths of five students
From Amadoru Amarajeewa
in Trincomalee
Trincomalee town was tense yesterday and life came to a standstill with students and others staging massive protests against the Monday night killing of five A/L-qualified students allegedly by the security forces.
Military officials, however, denied the allegations and said the youths were killed when hand grenades they meant to lob at the security personnel prematurely exploded. Student groups and family members alleged that the five youths were shot dead by the security forces while the pro-LTTE Tamilnet web site reported they were killed in a grenade attack.
Amidst the confusion Judicial Medical Officer Gamini Gunatunga who held the post-mortem ruled that the students had died due to gunshots wounds.
Groups of youth roaming the city on motorcycles ordered shop owners to close and put up black flags while the security forces maintained tight security amidst growing tension. Schools, banks and public offices were also closed while most people kept away from the city, fearing trouble.
At the Trincomalee Hospital where the bodies of the five youths were kept, large crowds gathered to protest and mourn. Among them were Trincomalee district TNA parliamentarian K. Thurairatnasingham.
Some other protesters stormed into unoccupied military bunkers near the Sivan Kovil and damaged them. Though these and other protesters sometimes turned violent, the security forces acted with restraint.
According to reports, the five students had recently passed the GCE A/L examinations and two of them had qualified to enter university.
While the military insisted that grenades being carried by the students blew up prematurely and caused their deaths, family members said they were shot dead and that Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission officials who probed the tragedy had found evidence of the shooting.
Trincomalee’s Senior Superintendent M.N.B. Ambanwala claimed there was no shooting while a magisterial inquiry and an inquest were also being held.
Meanwhile, the pro-LTTE Tamilnet reported that Trincomalee residents were shocked and angered over the killing of the five students who had studied at Sri Koneswara Hindu College. Two others were injured.
The victims were identified as Shanmugarajah Gajendran, Logitharajah Rohan, Thangathurai Sivanantha, Yogarajah Hemachchandra and Manoharan Rajihar
Those injured are Yogarajah Poongalalone and Pararajasingham Kokulraj.
Military spokesman Prasad Samarasinghe insisted yesterday the five students were killed when their own grenade exploded and the LTTE was now trying to blame the security forces though the Tigers were often known to have used students and other civilians and human shields.
Though Tamilnet reported that the students were killed on the Gandhi roundabout, Brigadier Samarasinghe said the grenades had exploded on the beach and the military had found the detonator pin of the exploded grenade. He said they also found a motorcycle and four push-bicycles at the scene.
Meanwhile, in another incident in Jaffna yesterday, an officer and a solider were injured when suspected LTTE gunmen fired at them.

 Usual amaka
amaka is an example of real Sinhala politician (most of them who want to ignore the Tamils). He is saying hartal it is organized by LTTE. He is decided himself and also says that LTTE might have done this. Do you know by hearing this how much the parents and friends of the victims family will suffer (if you are a politician in south??). That is how LTTE gorws up. OK, you are from a country of Buddah! can you ever investigate and give us a report. If LTTE has done this, why the SLA says it is a hand granade and medical report says it is shooting. It is not possible to do the investigation? If there is an investigation done and in the history of the SL, if an army personal has been convictted then the tmils might have support people like you. Or atleast an investigation says it has been done by LTTE by giving reasons, there will be some peple who can beleive this.
Do you know how many harthals was held in Trinco in the recent past? You do not know the fact too. Also you are referring only the heading of the artile only. You don't read the rest (as usual). You have the right to tell your openion but no need to jump up without facts that soon.

What a brainer we got here! huh..we are so lucky to have a genius like you.... yeah dude it is so peaceful in trinco to carry out investigations and forensic reports, blah blah... and all isnt it? what I can understand is that tamils from east are proud and sympathise with Karuna the great eastern leader..LTTE needed some incident to turn the populalrity in their favour... OK..now it seems logical to me...kill some school kids and blame it on SLA... DUDE dont cry over victims of war... after all who atarted this new round of violence ? even SLA members morethan 40 who died during off duty couldnt be identified properly... you are asking for investigation...funny dude...

Is Helen Olafsdottir a forensic pathologist or a spokesmen for SLMM. I have reasonable doubt about that and in any case if Helen capable of doing both then it would be a great thing.
No one can accept marketing of dead bodies whoever involve in that. Killing is killing whoever did that. But it is pathetic to see how grieving parents and families of these students were forcibly put in to harthal by LTTE. Most of the profound genius even in the forum want to justify that fact without the brutal killing of these students.

You are partially right. They do not know the truth. They do not want to know the truth. The truth they know is what JVP and JHU says are. Otherwise they might have solve the problem they have in SL. If I can tell in other words, they cannot solve the problem and if someone try to solve the problem they pull back (since indipendant) and ask the world to help. What a funny situation. JR walked from Colombo to Kandy whan a solution have been agreed between Bandaranayaka and Selvanayagam and asked help from India in 1987. But JR enjoyed maximum of his politics in his life and went peacefully, but people in south never realise. They only react and jump up high once everything went over the head. If you can check the history of amaka's remarks in this site, just an example....

 amaka again!!!
amaka!
you are still saying that harthal is done by LTTE !!!!! How do you say that? (What is the different if I say that Laxman Kadirkamar is killed by JVP?)
You never understand the mind of people (either in south or north-east) because you are living in USA and just want to write against LTTE. Here, you should understand that hartal is not the problem... It is killing of people. Please do not write like an .....

I just want to tell you that people in south do not have a solution. Look at JVP one of the powerful party in south. They want to fight with Norway. JVP was with government when Chandrika called Noreway for peace talk. What could JVP do then. Now JVP told the people going into people's house and said no-Norway. We will solve the problem and kick LTTE with the help of MR in 3 months. People voted (many people in this forum jumped up and down then). Now JVP agreed to call Norway and blame Eric (last week - not deplomatically but openly). Till todate JVP gave a solution to the ethnic problem? Tilvin Silva is the specialist on this matter for JVP. He wanted to arm down the LTTE before talks (in 1993). South politicians grew LTTE. They send Taamils to other country by creating SL is as not safe (1983 riotes). Now LTTE is on that money. All the leaders when they come to power starts to solve the problem from the begining. And get lost once their period is over but the problem is still there. When MR said he can solve the problem, is any major leader asked him what is the solution he has?? No. South is living in dream. Now they are beleiving US will come and help them. Funny. US need one thing from SL -I will post you that is few days- But that is cheapest. US never help SL, unless India is vanished. If you all can talk like Budha why can't you all solve the problem. SL recently lost 20 BILLION doller help money from world bank. Really SL is going back not forward. Please do not expect a solution from them.

It says LTTE can influence the people in the area where there was this harthal. This is the situation just like when JVP was brutalizing south in late eighties. When JVP killed somebody they did not allowed the people to have proper burial for the dead man. If JVP want to use killing for their propaganda, they forced relatives, friends and people in the area for hartal. This is my experience in arm struggle in south. Even though LTTE use more brutal tactics than JVP at that time, both of them has the same sort of strategies too.
One more thing, I am temporary live in USA just for my education. Now I can see the world more than when I am in my country and can understand and analyze the fact with conscience.

Killing of Kardiekarmer is still a unsolved mystery. May be you are correct in your opinion. It is a possibility. Why don’t you complain this to interpole or UN if you don’t trust SL police or GOSL.

Before asking for a solution please tell us what is (or was) the problem with SLTs.
In my opinion the biggest problem for SL Tamils is the mad-cow called Prabhakaran and his racist night club called LTTE. Get rid of these two and SLTs would be able to get back to the golden days they enjoyed (compared to today) before 1983.
For the people who cry hard with crocadile tears here about 5 students (probably killed by LTTE) should cry the same way about all innocent people died like this (singhala and tamil) who were on their normal day-to-day life (mums, dads, monks, school principles, politicians etc etc and thousands of them) and even the very first 13 soldiers who were killed while on the routine patrol rather than on war in 1983 by the mad-cow.
If you really want peace please stop the cause not the effect! That can be the best solution to what ever the problem you have.
