So the alleged coup was a coup by his political enemies to prevent him from campaigning in the parliamentary election?
As the saying goes, lies have little legs and the truth will catch up!

Thanks kkk123 for keeping decency alive in this forum (one of few bright spots)!
As for this Rajapakse/Fonseka saga, hopefully this bad joke will end soon and sanity will prevail!
Or will it? Only god knows but my gut feeling is yes this is it. The beginning of the end!

too much international pressure is coming on MR, so he need to make an end.
yet, MR would make SF ineffective somehow.

Yes may be Negombo, I am not sure but even if that is the case, I don’t think that is essentially bad.
You need that kind of pressure to see reason for our Sri Lankan politicians.
In this silly saga I see both these guys as the Hero and also as Villon. Both are not perfect but both do not deserve to suffer at the hand of the other guy.
More over we must see what is wrong and what is right based on reasonable thinking and not on our prejudices (both positive and negative)
As a nation we must move on and by nation I mean all communities.

sp,
Agree with you. But there is one non-negotiable here. SF must stop his dalliance with war crimes allegations.
It is time for him to put the nation before his petty personal grudges.

sp, valid points.
further I think MR is more suitable to take SL to the next stage given the options we have.
looks he is more organised and determined in getting his aims achieved. hope the country development is his next aim else he knows that he has to retire after 2017. we may also have to live with his transgressions till then.

A fair assessment at this stage.

If he gets his 2/3 he is not going to retire...ever! If he does retire for some inevitable reason he will try to stay in power in the background, or via proxy. If worst comes to worst, he will appoint a blood relation. Coming back to the point, What about that Udatalawinna mass murderer? Didn't he do politics in Uniform? Also, didn't he make large sums of money on procurement deals?

Former General Fonseka's confrontational approach continues..
This approach is only going to land him in courts and cells for years to come..

rm says: Quote:Former General Fonseka's confrontational approach continues..This approach is only going to land him in courts and cells for years to come..
It was not very long ago that his 'confrontational approach' was praised to high heavens on this forum.
But today, presumably under Chapter X Section Y of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, Sarath Fonseka's confrontational approach has become such a serious crime that he deserves a prison term.
May be I have misunderstood rm; may be what he means is that SF must go down on his knees and ask MR for leniency.

kkk, I think the confrontational approach
during war helped him. Then he fell out
with his boss. How many can survive fighting
against own boss ? That too calling him a 'rogue'
in public.. maybe I should have said 'overtly confrontational'..
the man's ego is getting belted - he now has to deal
with his own 'junior' officers court-martialling him.
He is waging a fight he is not guaranteed to win.
Worse, anything he would reveal can put him in the dock
further for breaching official/national secrets acts.
I would be surprised if he ever can nail down this president.
