Why do we still need emergency rule?

I don't think the threat has abated but by a small amount. Plus there are different types of threats that have raised their head

India's POTA is still in force, the US's DHS regulations have just received a massive injection of funds, I believe the UK's version is also still in force, as is the Patriot Act (US) & Anti-Terrorism Act (Can.)

POTA was repealed a while back; no
political parties were comfortable exercising it.
Incidentally, one of the POTA victims
was Vaiko, thrown into jail by Jayalalitha.

The policy that was in place before POTA
called TADA was reinstated.
TADA was considered less draconian.

Thanks rm.,
sorry for the error, Negombo
Matter of fact, I think the UK POTA comes up for review today - wonder whether it will be dropped or extended..

BTW - I know a POTA is not strictly "Emergency Rule" but it does allow for many emergency rule powers to be deployed nevertheless so for all intents and purposes.....
