Post The Sri Lankan Dilemma - Op Ed
Dr.THRISHANTHA NANAYAKKARA, Feb 4

Jan. 26, 2010 was an auspicious day for the people of northern Sri Lanka. They were eagerly waiting to vote in the first presidential election since the Sri Lankan Civil War between the Tamil Tigers and the Sri Lankan Government came to an end in May 2009. But what followed was a crisis that requires international attention. The ruling party candidate, Mahinda Rajapakse, asked the people to show gratitude for bringing the 30-year war to an end, and to strengthen his mandate to continue his policies. A coalition of opposition parties offered former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka as their common candidate and asked for a mandate to start a reconciliation process with the Tamils in the north. Post Nothing new
Nothing new, just usual human rights blah blah blah !

When you have nothing much to do or talk about, uttering about human rights has become a new and easy money earning cheap profession. Most of these human rights .. forget the human rights of the common person on the street and hang on to the human rights of criminals, liers, cheats and terrorists. Just come out of your arm chair and vist Sri Lanka, and walk and work alongside with fellow Sri Lankans in Sri Lanka and anybody will realise how free Sri Lanka is for common mum and dad. It may not be the case for suspects of many different acts which are deemed not suitable "decided by the government of the country", which is the case even for US, UK or any other country. The only difference is the reasons for "restrictions of freedom" differ from country to country. What makes any one think that those reasons around the world "must" be exactly the same? People who expect such "exact" similarity in the way governments work around the world are extreamly selfish and do not appreciate other people's wishes and desires and always like to enforce "their" view on others.

They also believe that the workers called "journalists" are above the law and cannot restrict access to certain places, cannot arrest for any reason, cannot send to jail for any reason etc. These human rights people simply publish things like "this many journalists were arrested" or this many journalists were sent to jail" etc without finding or publishing the real or true reasons for arresting them or sending them to jail. I can still see some articles asking for journalist Tissanayagam's jail sentence to be revoked. Those ideots may think that the jail sentence was given by a minister or the president, they forgot that they are trying to influence Sri Lankan courts and the law of the country. In the same token they would scream if a politician would try to influence the courts ! How stupid the double standards are? I wonder why they dont ever publish things like "a doctor has been arrested" or "an engineer has been sentenced to jail" etc.

Most of the time I have observed that these people worship anyone with a white skin and let down people with dark skins. Most of the time so called humas rights "activists" are either western or their slaves hired  from eastern countries. Very seldom you would find a human rights activist coming from a day-to-day working family in Sri Lanka.

In this particular article also the author has invited "forign", I guess "his western white masters" to invest IT to make sure vote rigging using IT is stopped. Whet is "doctor" is effectively doing is to undermine the ability and knowledge of similar (or probably much higher) educated IT professors in Sri Lanka. The election related IT services were managed by IT faculty of the Colombo University and the professor in charge also assured that the results cannot be manipulated with their system. This "Dr. Nanayakkara" cannot believe this but he will readily believe if the same was said by the "diploma in IT" guy in US. This shows how low have some of our own diaspora have become after slavering for westerners for decades. Shame on you guys !

Is this due to them acting like puppets under the influence of money or due to lack of wisdom to acknowledge reality of life or both? I am still trying to workouit.

Dear Manjula,

You obviously don't know much about Thrishantha's background. He is a lecturer in a leading university in SL, the type of person whose services are invaluable to future generations of Sri Lankans.

Rather than trying to character assassinate a person you don't know much about, please respond to the points that he has made.
