Post Poll violence will reverse Lanka's good image, warns US
ZeeNews,  Sat Jan 23 00:59:06 EST 2010

Colombo: Expressing concern over the escalating poll violence in the run up to the January 26 Presidential Elections in Sri Lanka, the US has warned this could reverse the good image, the nation has started building after the end of the civil war in May last year.

Where is the good image of Sri Lanka that they have built since the war was over.

Show ME and the others. It will be good for us to know.

perhaps now too late to turn the votes to Mahinda.
Already commander has gained ground.

Do you think iis wise for Mahinda  to back off accepting defeat instead of intimidation
stealing ID cards and a b plan for poll rigging?

Well have you ever heard any incumbent head of state backing off?  MR, SF and others created history by defeating a terror group but I doubt MR will do this and create history Idea

1.Never heard of an incumbent and his army commander who fought together saying they will get rid of the Tamils Tigers
now having declared  they have wiped them out have turned against each other.

2.Never heard nor seen such a scenario.

3.Knowng his opponant is gaining ground incumbent is resorting to all kind of violence..He is panicky as he is on shaky grounds.

Thanks.if you read all my postings many of them were questions.I do always want to know others
views and opinions.Thee were questions to SF and Mahinda too though they are not going to be bothered
reading ours. But i knew I will here from you guys.
How else would we learn/understand/accept and not accept and our opinions too.
Hi proximus thanks to you too.
I am still non plussed why these two turned against each other. There is a lot more that we do not know.
perhaps some of the Jaffna  people know something, they voted for him. Some think academics and analysts know
it all.If we move amongst the villagers both in the north,N/E and south it will be an eye opener.
I have.

Hey man., - thank you also
I have no idea why.. though I do think SF's entry into politics was ill-timed and done more because Ranil wanted to be Prez. more than SF wanted to be CDS. SF is not politician material - brilliant military guy though.
For me, it was a foregone conclusion that MR would win. SF simply did not have the support of the people in the rural areas where much of SL population lives - Jaffna would have gone to SF as you suggest, though IMO it would have been a more more for the UNP rather than a vote for SF
I was surprised this time when people in my own family, lifelong UNP supporters, decided also to vote for MR. This was VERY telling

Hi MAC1

The point I am making here is - have you lived in the villages
or have you moved with some in Jaffna,South and the NE.ALL.

As I said somewhere on LAC I just returned from Sri Lanka.
