looking at u.s. track record, we don't know
if this is beginning of a new problem.
Taliban by ideology are not going to listen
to Uncle Sam, it must be a tactical move
on the part of Taliban

That's an achievement certainly
but I don't see the connection between a PEACE prize and being a Black President
I would think the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded for achievements for and in the cause of PEACE., not achievements in being Black or attaining the Presidency.
I disagree, there is a connection, not quite direct as you see here.
Obama negotiated very hard to get Olympics to Chicago and when it appeared he was not getting it, he played the race card. The officials got nervous and said, now about Nobel for you if you give up Chicago and give us Rio de Janeiro? Now we know the rest.

This is being politically correct. So, Talibans have apparently played the 'Islamic Card' and complained that there is no 'Economic Stimulus' package for them. I don't know why some of you people sound so jealous about that.

Quote:A Reporter's Tale Of Ambush And Captivity
Reporter David Rohde escaped the Taliban after seven months as a captive. Today, he tells his tale.
October 27, 2009 New York Times reporter David Rohde was covering Pakistan and Afghanistan in November 2008 when he and two companions were kidnapped by the Taliban and held in the tribal areas of Pakistan for seven months. Rohde recounts the ambush — and his subsequent imprisonment and escape.
Audio link of his discussion with 'Fresh Air' and here you can get some insight on mentality of Talibans.

When you don't have anything to trade, you trade death. The money is like giving fighting dogs some bones.
I am sure they can justify that from their experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Talibans in USA are given the opportunity to make 'Rap' videos to keep them busy and that way we have pulled them out of violent street crimes.
Western cash is the most pollutant thing they dump to manage crisis. We might well as give them some potential enterprising ideas to make money freely as well. I propose sending some agents from the 'Porn Industry' to Taliban areas as well with this package.

LOL. You mean Peaceniks ? The pure sciences have better track record for deserving awards,
compared to the peace.

Speaking of Obama, strictly speaking Obama's Mother in law in the white house, she is refusing for her laundry done by the white house staff. Obama still reads books to his children to sleep at night. During election he said white house will be opened to American Public and he has so far kept that promise looking at how accessible that is for public during key events. He says he is the last president to tackle health care which is the chain that is slaving American public by US corporations. Therefore those who oppose health care can be die hard capitalists. The strength of a nation shouldn't be in the productivity of the people, rather how healthy that population is specially mentally.

I agree.. however in the case of first world, the productivity of the people is
relatively high. The distribution of resources and opportunities is better.
Coming to Obama, the man at the helm, he seems destined to earn some
good name - now that US is showing signs of economic recovery.
The recovery may have come by itself, but he'll get some credit ( for not
messing up too much, touch wood ! ). That reminds me of the
Obama parody on Saturday Night Live 'I've done nothing!'.
Ironically, Republicans are back to winning ways. New Jersey state is poised
to have a Republican governor ( after a long time ? ). Some say this is an Obama referendum
- that is, Obama is starting to lose the shine.

Obama sends senior US official to Myanmar
Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell and his deputy Scot Marciel arrived in Myanmar on Tuesday to push forward the Obama administration's revised policy on Myanmar.
The Obama administration in September announced a dramatic change in US policy because isolating Myanmar had failed, but said it would not ease sanctions without progress on democracy and human rights.
US State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said overnight that the current visit was the "first step, or I guess I should say the second step in the beginning of a dialogue with (Myanmar)."
Suu Kyi will be discussed when Obama meets Southeast Asian leaders at a regional summit in Singapore in mid-November, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Tuesday, adding that Thein Sein was expected to attend.

 House Passes Health Care Bill
This was a personal letter from Barak Obama to me. I feel touched that he knows me personally.
Quote:Perl--
This evening, at 11:15 p.m., the House of Representatives voted to pass their health insurance reform bill. Despite countless attempts over nearly a century, no chamber of Congress has ever before passed comprehensive health reform. This is history.
But you and millions of your fellow Organizing for America supporters didn't just witness history tonight -- you helped make it. Each "yes" vote was a brave stand, backed up by countless hours of knocking on doors, outreach in town halls and town squares, millions of signatures, and hundreds of thousands of calls. You stood up. You spoke up. And you were heard.
So this is a night to celebrate -- but not to rest. Those who voted for reform deserve our thanks, and the next phase of this fight has already begun.
The final Senate bill hasn't even been released yet, but the insurance companies are already pressing hard for a filibuster to bury it. OFA has built a massive neighborhood-by-neighborhood operation to bring people's voices to Congress, and tonight we saw the results. But the coming days will put our efforts to the ultimate test. Winning will require each of us to give everything we can, starting right now.
Please donate $5 or whatever you can afford so we can finish this fight.
Tonight's vote brought every American closer to the secure, affordable care we need. But it was also a watershed moment in how change is made.
Even after last year's election, many insider lobbyists and partisan operatives really thought that the old formula of scare tactics, D.C. back-scratching and special-interest money would still be enough to block any idea they didn't like. Now, they're desperate. Because, tonight, you made it crystal clear: the old rules are changing -- and the people will not be ignored.
In the final phases of last year's election, I often reminded folks, "Don't think for a minute that power concedes without a fight," and it's especially true today. But that's okay -- we're not afraid of a fight. And as you continue to prove, when all of us work together, we have what it takes to win.
Please donate to OFA's campaign to win this fight and ensure that real health reform reaches my desk by the end of this year:

Let's keep making history,
President Barack Obama
I am sure there are over 50 million people on Obama's mailing list.

Obama's Bow, what do you think?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20091116/pl_afp/japanusdiplomacyasiaobama
I felt it was unnecessary.
As a person, it tells a lot about Obama and have no problems with it.
As US president, this is sending a wrong signal.

I hope towards the end of his first term, he is not treated as a clown by
the same media that catapulted him to the skies.
