1.Sorry about my spelling mistake-let me guess-Srilankans do not make mistakes?   2. I lost a Danish friend in an ambush in 91'-I am sure you know what I mean about normal people not wanting to travel to dangerous,or perceived to be dangerous, places.  3.Of course you did and you got to the finals with two forfeits  to help you. 4.I am not lying(is that spelt right?)-the truck was found-look back in the news.Of course it WAS hushed up for very obvious reasons and I'm sure you must have had a swig or ten of Kassipu before you penned that last sentence-"your chicken"???-maybe I better brush up on my Lankaspeak to understand that one!

Oh yeh-I forgot to let you know that trucks(with wheels and fuel) can drive out of temples if they have an adequately skilled driver behind the wheel.Does that clear it up for you? But "chicken" still has me wondering .......

Two forfeits.... Why not count the one which we had in the bag and the indians started throwing objects at our players too... that makes three. And the final. Now that was really unfair. Shane Warne (ever notice that he turns the ball because it's "high") couldn't grip the ball because of the dew on the grass and he made a big show of wiping the ball after every delivery. And 5 (or was it more) dropped chances. Guess the rules should have been changed (as the Aussie media was saying at one stage) and the Aussies declared the winners of the 1996 world cup.

Anyone ever notice this phenomenon? Everytime Australia is on the receiving end, they somehow want the rules changed. Happened in the 1996  cricket world cup. Also in the rugby matches when the English place kicker (Wilkinson, was it?) was going great guns.

We Sri Lankans do make mistakes. Far too many, in fact. But the better ones say "Sorry, I made a mistake" while the lesser ones try to make it a dare. As for chicken, I'm not surprised that an aussie (calling himself an arab) isn't familiar with that expression as I'm quite sure that most chicken are unfamiliar with what we've named them.

Your hushed up truck story reminds me of the chap who went for a job interview and said, "I've worked for the CIA and they've been instructed to ruthlessly kill anyone who inquires about me"/

Some interesting comments that simply reinforce what I stated earlier-you gus DO have a bee in your bonnet when it comes sport-oops-cricket ( SL seems to be good at cricket but not much else ).I love cricket and have followed my team all over Asia.I've been spat at ,abused, robbed ,had objects thrown at me and at times felt very threatened but I still applauded a good stroke no matter who played it!You obviously also love cricket but the hatred that is in you when it comes to my team is disappointing. And what is wrong with being an Aussie arab-does the endemic racism that is tearing SL apart need to rear its ugly head every time you are challenged.YES-Australians are also racist-but not me and I am proud that I can live .anywhere and with anyone.Just read back over your comments and you might just see why your lovely country is in such a mess!

Oh please. can you show anywhere in TLA forum where people are showing 'hatred' towards 'your team'. You are overreacting bud, it's just a competitive game and fans say and do lots of things. While at it, Aussie team is a saintly, most
sportive team on the earth, and they do not sledge. Hope that keeps you happy.

How would a lankan supporter know,or care ,about a cricket lover who dares to cheer for another team.Us white guys tend to stand out in a dark crowd and because I hang out with the masses in general admission area I am spending time with normal Srilankans,Indians or Pakistanis. VIP(is that where you sit?) appears to be more civilized, but do not quote me on that! On the matter of sledging and sportsmanship-Sinhalese sledging to us sounds like the ravings of a madman so we tend to accept it as just that!In this forum maybe hatred is to strong a word to describe what I have read but it does make me feel good about SL when true cricket buffs come forward and say it the way it is and not keep looking to blame everything on others when SL is simply outplayed by a better team on the day.

Guys.. This thread is waaaayyyyy off topic now..Mod

Continuing on the off track Smile

I did not make racist comments.

You contradict yourself in this post:
First you say: "I've been spat at ,abused, robbed ,had objects thrown at me and at times felt very threatened " then you say
"I can live .anywhere and with anyone"

Also, how does "being robbed" come into the context?

"Just read back over your comments and you might just see why your lovely country is in such a mess". This is the sort of drivel anyone can write. I could say the same thing to you. But I'm not going to. There is a difference between a Sri Lankan and an individual (is that racist?) posing to be an Aussie.

Sri Lankans are good at cricket? How sportsmanly. You know what? Aussies are good too. Arabs aren't too good. Aussies made a huge noise about how others should "walk" when they are caught behind, but when the crunch moment came, and their captain was caught behind and the ump wasn't sure, he sure didn't walk. Underarm bowling is also ok.

What about all the times in sports when Australia lose and they want the rules changed? That also reminds me of the "bodyline" series. Huge cry over that in the aussie media. But whey they practice it there is no noise whatsoever.

Oh boy-it seems I have stirred up a few people with my comments. To begin with I HAVE lived in places way out of my comfort zone and came away a better person for it.I do not live in a cricket stadium and if my lot in life is to be surrounded by a few too many aggressive locals when I support Australia then so be it.As for being robbed -a nice Srilankan local stole my bag in Galle at the Test there! The rest of your diatribe once again sounds like a bitter man striking out in frustration. My God -do you really care if a player doesn't walk. And Bodyline-you say you know cricket and you defend Bodyline! And we practice it?A few shots of reality might do the trick here but after reading a comment such as "Arabs aren't too good" I think it may all be a lost cause.I am now taking no further part in this thread ,which I am sure some of you will be ecstatic about,as it seems to be getting nasty.Sorry if I've offended but us "chickens" never shy away from a decent stoush-good luck against Pakistan(oh! they beat you-sorry but I just couldn't help myself)                ps I don't need to pose to be an aussie-I am one-and so very proud of it !
